Title: Older Vx suspension (Chevette etc)
Post by: philhoward on 06 July 2008, 21:21:40
One for the Vauxhall die-hards here...

My playthings (Reliant Scimitar SS1) use Chevette-based  front suspension - the old double wishbone type - with an alternative shocker mount welded on (inboard horizontal).  Were there two "sizes" used on the Chevette?  I suspect that there was a slight difference between that and the Manta/Cav Mk1 setup in terms of balljoint size, but are the interchangeable to any degree?

I think they changed the wheel bearing size after the first year or so - true?  Were there any other changes during the production run?

Dont know for sure, bet man father would.....

I do know that on the rally cars you used to weld a front suspension setup to the rear.....and fit the 2.3!

Phil, The chevette wheel bearing was the same as the Manta A series,I had several.
I'm not quite sure what it is you're looking for is it the wishbones or balljoints?
