Can a Bose NCDC 2013/15 be set to non Bose with Tech2 ? :-\
-
I'd bet on yes. But not sure.
Let's see what they say. :)
It lives then?
-
No its still in bit on the table (wife not happy) put new parts in only to find I have now got a spring and I don't know were I got it from (it's from the Nav part) its the thick one (and not me) about 12mm ish long, sorry its at home and I'm at work :-\

I must be getting old, as I asked this question in Jan, if I'd asked it 20 years ago I would have remembered. ;D ;D
-
Umm! interesting question that :-\
Never seen a 2013/15 running on a non Bose system though.
Along with Mr.Gixer , I would bet yes . . . but lets see what TB or DaveDND say :-\ :-\
I will be watching this thread with interest as I have a spare 2013 with paired screen & a car without Bose ::) ::)

Just searched through your January posts . . .
Seems it's a yes ( but you already know that . . not to worry John ,it's an age thing , I have the same problem ;D ;D ;D )
-
It's a yes :y the NCDC201x were available as a factory option from CD up, Bose was Elite only iirc...
-
Like most of the range, some can and some cannot.
If it has BOSE written anywhere on the fascia, then its unlikely, but if it only says BOSE on the screen when powered up, then there is a 75% chance that it can be reprogrammed with a Tech2 session.

Think that's valid for CCR2006 only, all NCDC2013/15 models can have the Bose option tweaked by a Tech II and none have Bose Logo on the bezel. The Bose logo on the screen can be tweaked by a Tech II as well regardless of Bose actually being installed.
-
All NCDC and NCDR units can be set to both Bose and non-Bose
All CCR2006 can be set to non Bose, but only a very few can be set to Bose.

So put the new laser and CDC unit in and found out were the other spring went, just put it all back in the MV6, CDC works fine but Sat-Nav keeps ejecting disc with a message of (please put disc in with printed side up) which it was and that's with a new laser :-\ any clues please. :y
Next is to have the clocks out to see if I have the extra lead fitted for CID display :D ::) if so it will be in with the known good NCDC2013 unit :y and if not I have two leads here so will need to fit one.

Assuming this is a new laser, have you cut the soldered bridge on the ribbon cable off?
-
Even the brand new lasers don't like CDRs. Are you using a genuine disk?

Yes two of them so far :'(

should I :-\
YES!
Its a small, but obvious, solder bridge within the ribbon cable

That's what happens when I only like spanners(don't do electric most of the time) a pic will help me out here :y
-
Stole the pic off the T'interweb, if you look near the connector end of the ribbon you will see a link across a cut out area that can be snipped out.

Thank you all, I will get onto that this week on my rest days, I hope I have not done any damage by leaving it in place and trying to use it in the car ?
-
I believe it's a grounding link to stop static damaging the components during shipping. Certainly done the same as you previously with no damage sustained.
-
So took the head unit out off the car this afternoon and cut the little bridge out off the ribbon. Put it all back in the car and insert disc for it to do nothing, would not even eject the disc.
So out it all came again and removed disc with head unit apart.
Now me thinks :-\ I'm going to check if I have the other lead so I can fit the other 2013 and CID unit in, yes, it's there and CID and head unit now in.
BUT, the Sat-Nav is now working so is the radio(keeps flashing up radio safe when I'm on the settings screen) but the CDC will not keep the disc holder in. Does this mean a good CDC needs fitting ?
Any help with the above please, oh and the Bose needs turning off :y
-
Yes you could fix it that way - by fitting a working CDC. If the display safe is coming up the head unit and screen aren't paired though.

Not paired :-\ bugger >:( that's the pair that came out of the saloon elite I have for parts. Thing is I have not got the car pass for that car and if he has put them together at some point it will not know were they are from. :'(
Is there anyway they can be paired to the MV6 at all as I have the codes for that. The thing that gets men is that the radio works fine, it only put up radio safe when on Sat-Nav

NOT Display safe but Radio safe. the radio works fine so does the sat nav, but when setting sat nav Radio safe comes up about every 5 sec's :-\ :'(

I reckon that may be radio is depaired, but screen isn't. Which is a tad inconvenient.
-
Only one way to find out then :-\
-
Big big thank you to Jamie for his work this morning, I now have a fully working NCDC2013 with CID in the MV6. With a big thanks to the good lady for the coffee :y :y
-
So was it a Tech2 Job :y

So was it a Tech2 Job :y
The head unit had dropped it's code, but was a pair with the CID, so a case of find the code from head unit pair them together and then reset to code for my car, easy he says ;D ;D yes I said if your the boy.
So yes Tech2 job :y

I hate it when I'm right :(
However, gave me an opportunity to try my new clip for my programmer :D (which I'd forgotten I'd bought, so had resigned myself to soldering the wires on ;D)
Good to see you again Joff, glad we got there in the end :D
