I have an old caravan mover system that I'm selling as spares repair, I need to show it works to the buyer. It has pos and neg cables but no control unit so can I just connect the cables to a 12v battery , don't want to burn anything out and render the motors useless as I've had a very good offer made on them ! Forgive the dumb question but elecktricity is a mystery to me :-[

Is it designed to work on a 12v system?

Guess caravans run on 12v leisure battery's , I know I sound thick but this is the guy who regularly sticks knives into toasters

Some are, some bigger ones can be 24v, Trucks, Lorries are 24v etc.
So, anyway, the Toaster, was it a 240V Toaster? ;D

230V toaster surely.
But yes, it will be 12V, beware as they will be a series DC motor and produce quite a splat when you place them across the battery terminals.

I can supply a pcb unit and handset to work it ::)
