....

It has the Irmscher steering wheel too.

I kick myself for selling my car with the 'wooden' Irmscher steering wheel ..... but how was I to know they'd write it off within a couple of months  >:(

Don't like the wheels :o

Me neither ...... or the aftermarket stereo - £300 or not  ::)

If it's not been done.....it's due a cambelt etc,so if an experienced Omega person comes along,it might help with knocking him down a bit, just depends on wether he knows what he's selling. Joff will tell you that the guy who sold him that stunning fully kitted Irmy a little while back didn't realise that the car was pretty rare and he was a dealer(will stand corrected if I didn't get the facts right...but pretty sure ) ::)
Title: Re: 3.2 elite on the bay
Post by: joff on 16 May 2015, 21:05:37
It's been de badged, so has had paint at some point, wrong wheels, sat-nav is missing, and been replaced by a non Bose system. Only good thing is the mileage. I may go and have a look at it over the next 6 days just to see all the history. Not going to buy it ::) ::) no room on the drive at the moment.

You are correct, he was kicking himself when I told him (when I had paid and had the keys) I paid £1500 for it and I'm happy with it.

This one (on the bay)needs putting back to normal me thinks :y

Yep, be careful with this one.  :y

37,000 'genuine' miles, 4 very careful owners one of whom was a chav!  :D  ;D

Are you interested in this one joff? I was thinking of going to see it today but its 70 miles away. Is there anyone local that can view it?

I just spoke to the owner. He said the cambelt was done in 2013, no rust, 3 or 4 previous owners (one of them a chav as someone already mentioned) and everything works. He said cam cover gaskets aren't leaking either. He said he would have asked for £2,000 if it had the original wheels and radio.

I bought mine off ebay, travelled 200 miles, paid drove it home, full service, sweet. :y
You either want it or you don't,.just do it.

I travelled 450+ miles round trip in the past to buy a two grand car and have no problem doing that again. The owner isn't available until Tuesday which is the problem. By next weekend it's gone.

I've found  the further you travel to view a car, sods law dictates the bigger the bag of shit it usually is. :-\

In my youth a couple of trips to the barren wilderness beyond Hadrians wall resulted in 'tears before bedtime'..... :-\

Train fare and the cost of petrol needs to be figured in to the cost/time equation.

You may get lucky though. :y

Also factor in the cost of a set of wheels and radio and grill (depending on preference), it adds up £2,000

All of which I have here :o. I have sent the owner a message on the bay and have asked to view it on Wednesday. Not that I am going to bid or buy (I have two black Omega's) I just wanted to check it over as he is only 38 miles from me. :y

Thanks joff. I hope you were planning and seeing regardless of my interest. Is there any other interest from OOF?

A quick Q, it has just occurred to me. If I understand the Bose system correctly, aftermarket stereos aren't compatible with Bose speakers due to the speaker impedance being 2ohms. So that must mean the Bose system has been ripped out, no?

I asked about the Bose system, but in his reply he only said about the service history and it was all in the book. So didn't answer my questions in full. He said he had two viewings on Tuesday and I was to ring him on Wednesday to see if he still has the car !!!!!!

I had my doubts about this one anyway. Too many chav mods to correct and the possibility of BOSE system butchered to get aftermarket unit in.
