Title: code 420/430
Post by: pauls on 24 May 2015, 19:08:32
To get rid all together is it best to fit the 3ltr cats or just move the sensor.

If you fit 3.0 cats you will need to drill and weld in 2 lambda bosses for the secondary sensors anyway :y

You have to move and weld in new bosses pn 3.2 dwn pipes aswell, if you can get a pair of 2.5/3.0L downpipes then that's a better option.

3.0 cats will mean removal and refitting, drilling exhaust bolts etc, but obviously won't have pre cats at all.

3.2 cats can be done in situ with no problem, so no refitting or risking leaky gaskets or issues with cat bolts that may or may not come undone or lambda sensors may or may not come out. But the pre cats remain of course.

Cheaper to use 3.2 cats as fitted, easier job, less risk. But it would be nice to get rid of the pre cats altogether. Up to you at the end of the day.

Pre cats are not known to collapse or block the exhaust, but it is possible. If I had any reason to remove my cats I'd smash the catalyst out before refitting.

For the op, I'd say just move the sensors tbh.

Oh, and Serek WILL quite happily weld cats on the car. He's a good welder.

....as is Master who did mine on the car as well. :y

Good idea but how do I drive both over at the same time :-\

But then again if I drive the MV6 so you can do that and bring a spare set of cats you could do them and I fit them later. :y
