What brought that on?

Personally, I have never really had a head for heights, no issues with flying, but never been good with ladders and the like... so was quite apprehensive about crossing the Gatwick bridge day in day out. In reality though, the view is spectacular and even looking down from it isn't as unnerving as it should be...

Anyhow, as Chris says, rest up,  and hopefully you'll be back on your feet in no time :y

I'll be in The Valleys next week Seth and I can help you with your problem......

Doombar has a very short shelf life and it would be tragic to see it wasted!  :D  ;D

What brought that on?

Quote
Causes of vertigo may include:
benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) – where certain head movements trigger vertigo
migraines – severe headaches
labyrinthitis – an inner ear infection
vestibular neuronitis – inflammation of the vestibular nerve, which runs into the inner ear and sends messages to the brain that help to control balance

Its not to do with heights, as such, Al. I suffered vertigo once years back, and I was on the ground. I believe its to do with the inner ear or something. I could not keep my balance. Its similar to being ratted, and not a nice experience. Luckily, I have been ok since. So my commiserations to you, Seth. Hope you feel better soon. :y

Was holed up in Wetherspoon hotel in Ripon a couple of years ago with that. Not nice at all. I swear that Ripon Cathedral turned upside down once, couldn,t hardly get off the bed to go to the bog. Best of luck with it and what tabs are you on?
I was prescribed Bucestem, did the trick in about three days then i ran for home in my old faithful PFL.

Mrs TB and one of my Bros suffer vertigo. Its a problem with balance usually due to some inner ear damage.

In the case of bro, it was caused in an aeroplane, possibly due to minor cold or allergy causing a problem with pressure balance. Strangely, he is most affected after getting off a flight.

Mrs TB was due to a viral infection, and her vision is like a constant shaking, as the microscopic hairs in the canals in her inner ears have hardened.  Driving in snow or heavy rain disorients her to the point of illness.

I suffer a fear of heights. I know when I'm in trouble as I get a tingle in the gentleman sack area. But that's just gay, not the shit those with ear damage have to endure.

Sorry Seth, but in most cases you don't get over it, your brain learns to live with it, ignoring the signals.  Until other senses confuddle the brain.

Sorry that looked a bit dismissive. Get well soon Seth. Must be an unplesent sensation, I get something approaching similar with neck and spine issues. Believe it or not. Although not as bad, so you have my sympathy.

Valleys,
Its been a couple of days since you posted this pic. We need to see a new pic to check your current stash.  Its because we care, and want to ensure that you are taking your Doombar medication :P

Love to Aberystwyth

Don't really want to be leaving your beer outside like that in clear bottles. The sun will taint it. Someone ought to be drinking that, quick.

EDIT: Sun, in the Valleys, yes, I know. ::) At least they're waterproof. :P

Hope you're feeling better soon. :y

You have my sympathies where I've suffered from it twice with ear infections. Fortunately, where I've been in up to force 11 gales on ferries in the Channel and never been seasick, this has not affected by cast-iron stomach as I've meandered down the road like it was a force 11. :o :o :o :o

Unfortunately, alcohol didn't help but it didn't do any harm either. :) :) :) :)

Had that many years ago and it does sure make you feel very ill....these days i suffer from tinnitus which is awful ringing in your ears and if you allow yourself to be tuned into it while sitting quietly it drives you mad...At first I thought it was ear damage caused by 25 years of nagging by the ex wife (bless her )..joking...but i put it down to old age, although my sister has suffered with it since the age of 30..oh well if it aint one thing its another  :D :D :D

I get annoying noises in my ears sometimes, but I wouldn't describe it as ringing. More like a 1KC tone.

Thanks to everyone for their support and good wishes! :y

Had 11 weeks off work on sick leave, and've now returned to normal duties.
Been a busy lad, with Welland Steam Rally and our annual holidays in the interim. We decided to stay local .. ish this year, spending one week in Pembrokeshire followed by nearly two weeks on Gower. Apart from some inclement weather, a great time was enjoyed by us all ... though 'The Bank of Gramps' took summat of a hammering! ::)

Oh ... the Doom Bar stash ..

On the instructions of the company doctor, Varche ;)

The root cause, it would seem, is some kinda problem with my right inner ear.
I'm presently on the waiting list to see an ENT consultant ... and that ain't gonna be until December ... at the earliest >:(

The bad news is that it you are now susceptible to further bouts of Vertigo. If the GP will listen then a good drug to help during attacks is Serc (not sure on the spelling) or something similar.

(Remember Mrs LD is an Audiologist ;))
