Guy Martin and riders of 2011 TT races.
Probably the best ever insight into the mentality needed to compete at this level and at this event.
Very much worth a look. :y
Ps. NOT family viewing in some instances iirc.

Yes, well worth a look if you missed it the first time it was shown. :-[

Watching it........... :y
Going to the IOM for a short holiday in August, must go round the track, worst case in the car, best case hire a bike!.............. :y :y

Aaeye. If you fancy doing the mountain section again, rather than another complete lap with 30 and 40 limits, turn left at Creg ny ba and follow that back to Ramsey for another go. Creg ny ba road is awesome too. ;)

Thanks for that; I certainly will not be going at anything like the speeds on the TV, at the moment............. :y :y

Indeed, although having done a lap, it's likely the mountain section is preferable to the rest, at any speed :y

Yes, he did kind of 'take off'.............. :y

That crash is probably the realisation of the worst nightmare that runs through any visitors mind at the TT. Flying off the side of the mountain section.
It happened to him, and he carried on. ...is still carrying on. Why?

Insane....

Many years ago the TT was of course part of the world championship and basically you had to race there if you wanted to be champion.I think it was the riders Agostini amongst them who got it deleted from the championship on safety grounds, and people said that this would kill off the TT races altogether.Yet still they carry on.Madness?quite possibly, but I think even to a professional racer the thrill, the buzz and the achievement of "racing the island"must be awesome.More power to the Isle of Man for allowing this to continue, can you imagine the outcry over noise, polution, safety there would be if someone were to try and stage similar races here on the mainland?

Can't see a two lap race of the M25 ever taking off ::)

Got it on record. :y
As a callow youth I was in the pits (no problem in those heady days) at Silverstone on practice day for the big motor cycle race on the Saturday, getting autographs from my boyhood heroes. Going up to one chap I asked if he knew where Geoff Duke was, he smiled and pointed me in the right direction. As Geoff gave me his autograph (now sadly lost), he laughed as he asked me if I knew who had sent me over. No, says I, Eric Oliver, he tells me, much to my chagrin. My only excuse being that you never saw much of their faces at 100mph. :-[ :-[ :-[
