Title: Food Throwaway
Post by: Dusty on 07 July 2008, 19:00:25
Thought I would give a mention to todays headlines

Gordon Brown wants us all to stop throwing so much food away. :-/

Is it just me, or are we living in a Nanny State, where everyday life is to be controlled by Government? :-?

I'm sure everyone is aware of the food they throw away, (personally I don't throw any away), and hardly need the PM telling us what to do, particularly when he at the G8 summit and eating sushi and drinking fine wine. :o :o :o

Please just concentrate on running the Government, and let us worry about what we do behind our closed doors.

May be Gordon Brown will introduce CCTV in our homes to make sure we follow his advice ::) ::)

I don't waste anything in anyway.

Not only do I not throw food away. I don't leave lights on. Have the heating too high, fill the kettle more that necessary, or leave the telly on standby.

In spite of driving a Vauxhall Omega I think my carbon footprint is small. I think we should be taxed on the overall size of our carbon footprint and not on what car you drive.

Gone off the subject a bit, but who cares anyway ;D ;D ;D

Thats a bloody joke.

"the reason the food prices are going up is because of the amount we all throw away & we all should do more to reduce this"

 >:( >:( 'dangle berries'  >:( >:(

The reason the food prices are going up is because this government is still raking in £2m EXTRA per day because of the fuel prices, refusing to lower them & so the transportation costs of everything has rocketed.

Yet another smokescreen

I totally agree. I make a real effort not to waste food, heating, lighting etc. The only real improvement I could make is to buy a smaller car. I do enjoy a few beers and hope drinking isn't outlawed in the near future but you never know!!!

They reckon about 10% is thrown away.

The point is - people are moaning yet still throwing away a large amount of decent food

The answer is simple....if the government gave each household one pig each, the pig would eat the excess waste and when said pig was fat enough kill the pig and eat it.

Now if that isn't recycling i don't know what is. ;D

Actually saying that Pigs eat human flesh/bone so why not give all the Cat A prisoners and nonce's too the piggeries...not only would the piggery save money on food costs the government would save on the cost of housing inmates and we would have a few less nonce's in the world;D

Sounds familiar :-[ we try not to throw too much out, we are aware of money wasted and do not need the PM to tell us.
I bet he cant say what is in his fridge now, or at any time.  >:(

Hypocrites the lot of them...and still they're "contemplating" postponing the 2p tax hike on fuel - plus VAT!

Have they never heard of web conferencing??  What happened to "working from home", Gordon??  The rest of us have to do it because we can't afford the fuel to drive to work..

Now we know where our taxes are going he can wait until January for my Tax Bill..

Just watching the news now, why cant all the 3rd world countries that are struggling be helped to set up as suppliers for corn and from what I just saw on the news then even more sugar cane farmers.

Patronising Batsrad. >:(

As it someone who is really struggling is going to be throwing food away.

As said, the root cause of most of the sh1t we are in is the useless gibbon who is at the wheel, and who breaked the economy before his "coronation". 'Bout time we chucked him on the compost heap to rot along with all the potato peelings and carrot leaves that we apparently should have eaten.

We do not chuck anything edible away.

Anything not edible is composted.

Grass clippings are fed to the animals

Pity the roles cant be reversed.

Rather than him telling us how to save money.
Why cant he listen to us on how best to save it were we can and where best he can spend it on our behalves.

Because he's an unelected politician so can preach to us who fill his coffers whilst remaining a hypocrite.
