Title: ABS ECU
Post by: Shallow Al on 04 June 2015, 00:04:19
Hi guys n gals. I swapped a faulty ABS ECU in my 3.0 auto for another one from a 3.0 manual.
All is well with the lights, they come on, and go off as they should, and as far as I know the TC and ABS are working.
So, is there any reason why I would need to programme the new ECU to match the car, with regards to the gearbox type.
Thanks for any input

It wouldnt have a config if it didnt need to know, suspect it is either not looking at an input it can use, or cant control the autobox like it would like.

They can clearly do strange things.
I had a brand new ABS ECU in my old car, with no config at all,
That caused the car to stall if the revs werent kept up when cold.
When the car was just idling, and having a config put on it, the engine note changed, and it never stalled again.

Regardless of lights, I would remember that it will not operate as designed without the correct config.
