Title: Power Steering Fluid
Post by: tunnie on 08 June 2015, 17:50:50
Do you check when hot? (On 2.2)

Checked about 5 mins after a 45 min drive. Not even on the dip stick  :-\

Top notch on dipstick when on hot engine, lower for cold.

Yeah, me too ;D

I'll have to see what shite Hellfrauds sell, though worried they will only sell that Dexron that covers all specs, not just DII.

Thanks Rob. Needs a topup then, smelling very burnt too. Got a suction pump, temping to top up. Thn full lock each way few times, then suck more out and re-fill?

Thought about doing that a few times?

Looks like it may be a DexIII equiv, so I'll pass. And can't get to euroshiteparts anyway

But does it cover DexIII as well?  GM clearly state not to put DIII in (mostly likely due to a reaction with their own damaging seals)

Cheers guys - needs to be somewhere I can collect, as I can't wait in for delivery, and I need it reasonably quickly.

I'll pop to Hellfrauds tomorrow.

Isn't there a drain plug on the pump (or near it) for the PAS - you undo it when you want to replace the pump, thought I'd read somewhere.

At the minute I've topped mine up (after turkey baster-ing the reservoir as empty as I could) concerned that all I've done is replace the old stuff at the top, whereas all the old stuff that was in the pump is still in the pump.

PAS topped up with the Halfords one link above. £5 odd one trade, for 1l. But more importantly, I could pick it up today, put it in the car, job jobbed without worrying about a mail order option arriving on time.

Sorry to hijack your thread tunnie, but thanks for reminding me I desperately needed to sort TBE out :y

No probs. Topped the 3.2 & 2.2 up today. Both needed a good splash.

3.2 badly needs a service and a cambelt. Must put a weekend in the diary for Brackley  :y
