....as any biker will tell you, is Isle of Man TT week. Well, the first week starts with practice, second week is the races.
Delighted that Hutchinson is back. He will be the next king of the island I reckon, if he isn't already. Won 5 races a few years ago then had a big crash at turn 1 at Silverstone mid pack and had another rider hit him, smashing his leg in several places to the point they nearly amputated. Recovered slowly, came back to early with a right hand gear change and broke the leg again. Thought that was the end of biking for him, but, he's won on the island.
THATS THE SPIRIT!
I feel like I know him, even throw I absolutely don't, as I have his old Superstock spec fireblade in the garage. :o

I've been there twice, blasting over the mountain road is something else. Wrong side of the road, 90mph, you just can't disconnect from the law. Keep drifting back to 'right' side of the road.
I touched 130 a couple of times, but to average that is insane.
Last year i was there, BBC Top Gear mag was there, I managed to get in one of their photo shoots with Ferrari and McLaren. 8)

I am pretty sure the guys who do the road racing have a few neurons related to fear that just don't fire..
I'd love to go over for TT week one year, though. [edit] To spectate, obviously.. ;D

There's one bike that looks slightly out of place there.

Ah, you must be the one in the middle, then! ;)

Nah, that's Tom Ford from 5th Gear. I thought it was a 5th Gear thing they were doing at the time, but he also does stuff for Top Gear Mag. :y

Do you mean the one biker, who is not nearly as wide as his bike? ::) ;D
I may have been on a GS, I still over-took quite a few on the mountain pass. Mostly Harleys and Pan-Euro's though ;D

Good spot :y
Always tempted to camp out on the mountain, to watch in the evening. But I tended to head back to Douglas, due to the roads shutting. (Also nice warm hotel with bar!) So would watch on main straight and down Bray Hill. The speed down through there is just staggering. :o :o
-
That last pic, in the lay by, walk up the road 400 yards and we stayed in that camp site on the right. :)
Woken to the wonderous song of a 250 2 stroke wailing down off the mountain. Great if the sun was out. Not so good in the rain and howling wind while retrieving ones tent from the top of the hedge in the next field. ;D

Senior highlights on now. Go Hutchy :)

We are going there for a Week in August, so hope to drive around the course, I mentioned hiring a bike to do it, but swmbo said NO, in longer words.............. ::) ::)

Bike trouble, split exhaust :(
But Mcguiness was "on fire", drifting the back on the way in and and sliding it on the way out. 17(?) second lead on the road, over second place James Hillier, Hutchy taking third. (They start with a 10 second gap)
Average speed, a tickle over 130mph. .....average! :o

Whilst sadly I will never be able to ride a motorbike, I do like the thought of it. I like the camaraderie (got a mate who loves his bikes) and also the fact you can experience super performance for the price of your average focus!

Exactly right Webby. Although check you tube, there are riders and racers out there In a similar position. But they knew how to ride first. If you see what I mean. :y
