Nothing special.....purely functional. A 'does what it says on the tin' kind of car. It's transport in the same way a bus or train is transport.
Dreary and ugly with it.
Truth be told it's about as exciting as STMO's bile green Astra. It is certainly no 'pussy moistener' that's for sure.
Luckily for me it's red......which is the most exciting aspect of the car.
-
cheap as chips (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-XKR-X-Reg-2001-Supercharged-Low-Mileage-FJSH-/261922156229?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cfbc6eec5)
:-\
-
No. Its far more dull than a 'Shaguar' and nothing like as expensive.
I imagine it has to be the the top ten list of boring cars.
As I say.....it's transport.
You wouldn't bother to turn and look at it as you walk away.

Ah..a Vauxhall omega.
-
Kia Sedona? Where the most exciting thing is wondering when the gearbox is going to fail.
-
Oh dear! (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-SAXO-1-6I-VTR-2001-/271892857103?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3f4e13c10f) :D
-
All of the cars listed are far more exciting that what I have bought.
Still, it's reasonably cheap and practical. I'll bore you with the dreary details......big boot....good visibility....... two cup holders.
It's the sort of car you buy when you stop having sex and get an allotment. :(
-
Oh good its Japanese or another Merc (both considered retirement vehicles)

No.....on both counts.
I'm done with MB. Expensive and fragile.
Not as exciting as a Nipmobile. :(

Only to check it hasn't disintegrated overnight.

Nope, Mr EMD.......Still too exciting. Think really dull.Terminally dull.
I'll bore the tit's off you some more.
24th July 2007......(07)
FMDSH ....serviced every year regardless of milege.
Two keys.....how exciting is that? ::)
63,500 miles.
£2400.
-
So...why buy it?
-
Volvo? Vectra?
-
So...why buy it?
Practical and responsible is the new sexy.
I've been told I need to grow up and act my age. ::) :)
-
When I buy a car, I just post a picture up. That's probably a bit technical for an old geezer like you.

I have to say that I find your 1.4 GLS Astra really quite nice. ::)
It cost nothing to be nice. :)
-

Practical and responsible is the new sexy.
I've been told I need to grow up and act my age. ::) :)
Should have bought an Orlando or Astra estate then. A decent example can be had for about £7-8000.

Ah...the legendary Daewoo Orlando. At last a car that is equally dreary. ;D
-
Volvo? Vectra?
Getting closer.
-
Come on Opti you old tart tell us what shitter, nice vehicle you've bought ::)
It's obvious, he couldn't resist the temptation of a Citroen berlingo.

Too much french flair......so no.

Saab then or Skoda
Again, getting closer.

Ford Mondeo?
-
I'm pretty sure that one person on this thread has also owned one of these cars.
But not the same model.
This thread is far more 'groin fizzing' than the car itself. ;D ;D
-
Ford Mondeo?
Yes. One for the dullard, but no.
-
Toyota Avensis. :y
-
Ford Mondeo?
Yes. One for the dullard, but no.
I love the mondeo estate, may get one after my astra.
-
Volvo and Saab both close. Is it a scania?
-
FFS man, tell us already or I'm sending this man after you..

Okay....a few more clues.
Not known as a drivers car but roomy and with plenty of toys.
A bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing. Not a head turner.....apart from when people point and say look how fooking ugly that thing is. Although not fast, it is quicker than some pimply youths may think.
-

The handling is similar. :)
-
Ford Mondeo?
Yes. One for the dullard, but no.
I love the mondeo estate, may get one after my astra.
May I suggest a dark shade of brown both inside and out. :)

An omega.

Certainly not! It's got to be star silver.

-
You lot are hopeless. I've virtually told you already.
Did any of you pass your eleven plus?
I did. :P :P :P
-
Bored now. ::) Lexus..... ???
-

I did. :P :P :P
Have you ever thought that it might not be hopelessness, but apathy? ;D
-
This will give it away,
It's ugly and FWD.
-
Fiat Multipla.
-
Fiat Multipla.
Oh...I hope so.....pleeeeese..... ;D
-
Volvo V70 t5,where do I collect my prize ???
If anyone should know it's you, Mr Henry.
......big clue here for the thickies amongst you. :D ;D
-
Fiat Multipla.
Oh...I hope so.....pleeeeese..... ;D
You just want to take the piss at my expense you cruel sod. ;D ;D ;D
-
The Multipla does meet the criteria set out, with the exception of the £2400, 2400p maybe.
-
Passat?
-
It's inexpensive to buy because it is generally 'unloved'.....much like the Omega.
This makes it a good used by when it cost about £30,000 new.
Depreciation is my friend. ;D ;D

Your only friend if you carry on like this.
-
It is an auto.
5 speed......at least I think it's 5 speed.
-
Dear God above. A bunch of 5 year olds would have figured this out by now.
Here is another clue.
I like Vauxhall cars.
Does that help? ::) ::) :D
-
FWD.....ugly as sin........any bells yet? ;)
-
Signum.
-
Signum.
I've always thought you to be brighter than the average OOFer, Sir Tig. :y :y
Yes, a dreary old Signum. Even it's mother didn't love it. ;D
-
Oh I don't think they are ugly. A lot nicer to look at than the Vec C.
-
Oh I don't think they are ugly. A lot nicer to look at than the Vec C.
I think they are basically a stretched Vectra underneath. You can't get more exciting than that. ::)
-
Oh I don't think they are ugly. A lot nicer to look at than the Vec C.
And certainly not as ugly as either an omega or old shape corsa.
-
They are based on the Vec C, but less practical due to only 4 seats (unless you get the expensive optional one), personally I'd keep the fridge, if it's got one.
I suspect Mrs_Deviator will be having a Signum once I sell her Vectra.
-
Signum.

Yes, a dreary old Signum. Even it's mother didn't love it. ;D
Thank FFT! ::) I can get on and do something this afternoon now! ;D
-
We were confused by the £100 being a deposit and not the whole amount. That they paid you to take the thing away.
-
Ah....but which power plant....
-
Ah....but which power plant....
I was frightened to ask in case it sparked another guessing game.

When I read this I thought the STMO had typed it. ;D ;D
-
Ah....but which power plant....

I imagine the least popular choice. :)
Certainly not a 1.9 litre derv drinker. :)
-
Oh god a 1.8 16V
-
Oh god a 1.8 16V
Did they make a 1.8 litre Signum? ??? ???
-
Ah....but which power plant....
Knowing Opti it will be petrol......... :-\ elite........ :-\ So...
2.0T, 2.2 direct or 2.8T....... :-\
-
The 1.9 CDTi 16v is a pretty good engine. Although personally, I'd go for the 3.2 version, or possibly the 2.0T.
-
Oh god a 1.8 16V
Did they make a 1.8 litre Signum? ??? ???
In exclusive and elegance guise..yes. 1.8 vvt.
-

2.0T, 2.2 direct or 2.8T....... :-\
Yes. Petrol only. Derv is the juice of the devil.
Yep. One of these three. :)
-
But wait....it's an auto....so 2.2.
-

I bow to your superior knowledge, Sir. ;)

You haven't got it cheap

No. Not cheap.
It is however a very nice low mileage example.
He originally had it priced at an optimistic £3895. This was later dropped to £3295 then £2895.
I'm happy enough with £2400.....or about 7% of the original list price. :y
-
Traded the mig in then ? :-\
-
Traded the mig in then ? :-\
Never. :y
I'd want at least £1000 for her and nobody would be willing to pay that. I don't need the money so I'll keep hold of her.

Yet ugly and boring.
-
But wait....it's an auto....so 2.2.
Is it boll*cks. :D
Would this be the same underpowered lump used in the 2.2 Omega?
-
Think that's a chain driven 2.2 lump
-
Think that's a chain driven 2.2 lump
So Vauxhall make a 2.2 belt driven engine and a 2.2 chain driven engine. Both petrol.
Why? ??? ??? ???

Nissan are giving minimum £1300 trade in , what about one of those Jukeboxes ::) ;D

£1300 against the full list price no doubt. :(

Well done M'lud for buying something cheap and practical, it is a well worn path that soon leads to other practical joys for the older gentleman like tortoise shell framed glasses, incontinence pants and a mobility scooter. ::) ::) ::) :P :P :P

I shall seek the opinion of STMO regarding these 'later life' products. :)
His 1.4 litre Astra has similar performance to a mobility scooter. :)
-
So I wonder how long this one will last? ::) How long did M'lud have the Merc? ??? 6 weeks or so? :-\ ;D
-
So I wonder how long this one will last? ::) How long did M'lud have the Merc? ??? 6 weeks or so? :-\ ;D
Three months. Only cost me £1200. ::)
-
I may consider 'bluefin' so the performance is less pedestrian.
Supposedly it will also improve MPG by about 10%......This claim may be snake oil. :-\
