Hi all, have posted re this problem before and the saga goes on. Have a 1999 v6 2.5 auto Elite, the prqoblem was when going uphill the engine was hesitant also sometimes on the flat. No fault lights came on, took for an analysis was showing fault codes for air flow meter, so replaced it, still doing the same thing. So took it to a vauxhall main dealer and was put on an analiyser, no faults found, they suggested to try new plugs and leads at £222-00, yeah right. Any ideas on what the problem could be, all suggestions appreciated, thanks for your time!

First off, check again for current or stored Fault codes, do the free paperclip test for them yourself.

Never had these symptoms on my mig but on my Saab 9-5 these same symptoms were caused by a failing Direct Ignition pack - fitting a new one cured it, but did cost north of £200 and also threw a CEL when it happened so I wouldn't try this as a first measure!!
Have you removed and examined the plugs? If one or more are sooted up or showing other signs of damage this could at least narrow it down to which cylinders are effected.
You may find that replacing the spark plugs cures it - for a time (about 2-300 miles), it did for me in the Saab. Basically I was getting a poor spark and fitting brand new plugs masked the issue.
As I say, odd that its not throwing a CEL ???
