Title: Fathers Day.
Post by: SteveAvfc. on 21 June 2015, 17:04:08
So what did all the OOF Dads get for there fathers day then??. Breakfast in bed? Dinner and a pint later on? Car washed?
Or did you get what we always get not much. As for me yes I got the obligatory card but I still ended up cutting the lawn and doing the dinner. A Dads work is never done.  :P

Had a lovely start to the day with cards and some little presents from the 3 kids and then a full English for breakfast, then it was all over as I weeded the garden, drove swmbo into Bristol for a route check as she never seems to know where she is going and then back home where I hid in the man cave and cleaned the front and rear doors and sills of the miggy, now having a nice cuppa while tapping away on the keyboard :y

I moan all year about the stupid 'occasions' that people insist on celebrating. So I got a card, which is the way it should be.

I may be being a bit mercenary, but the sooner all of these 'days' disappear, the better. It'll be grandparents day soon.

Replaced fuse 27, cleaned the gutters, tidied the garage a bit, mended a bike puncture, and then went out for a 'nice' walk (not my choice of words !). Can't wait for next year !

My daughter had made some great plans and bought the tickets for me to go out with her partner on Saturday and watch some motor racing, but he had to work, where a job had to be finished this weekend as he is starting a new one on Monday, so she had to sell the tickets. On Sunday she made some more plans but middle grandson then had a birthday party to go to, followed by my oldest grandson's football presentation, so ended up going over for dinner, but then went for a walk in the local park and all the boys including their dad and me the grandad spent an hour having a great game of football between us, which goes to show that spontaneous things that cost nothing are very often the most enjoyable. :y :y :y

Also got a best dad and best grandad cards and some bottles with reusable sealing 'grolsch' tops for my homebrew. :y :y :y

So all in all an enjoyable day. :y :y :y

Got woke up to my kids bringing me prezzies and cards :)

Got a box of dark chocolate Black Magic and a packet of licquorice allsorts :y
Also a bottle of bug shifter and some AG bird pooh wipes ...
A nice keyring with the kids names on (wife thinks it looks cheap but I really like it) ...
Got a new brewcup with the kids pics on and their names ...
A packet of Dolce Gusto Lungo coffee ...
Some shaving stuff
2 pint bottles of my favourite real ale (Iron Maiden Trooper beer) ...
A bottle of JD smokey BBQ sauce :)
And to top it all off, a full english breakfast sandwich and the for our tea a chicken jalfrezi, all cooked by my ever loving wife :)

All in I had a good day.... until I went to polish the Omega... I need to look at what I pick-up when I start to wipe down the paintwork... I found out you can't polish a car with wirewool... it don't quite workout... so took me just over 1 1/2 hours to polish out the new scratches from the new paintwork ... finished that and put away the cleaning stuff and went inside...

Had a fantastic Fathers Day.  :y

My little girl got married on Saturday and we stayed over at the wedding venue so when we woke up on Sunday, amongst all the excitement, I'd forgotten about Fathers Day. My son and daughter hadn't though, and gave me my cards and a dash cam.  :y A bar of chocolate would have been plenty as I don't like them spending their money on me.
Also, just before the wedding, my daughter gave me some silver cuff links, and engraved on them it says, "I'll always be your little girl". I must admit to shedding a tear.  :)

Fantastic kids that I'm so proud of, a fantastic weekend and one we'll never forget.  :y

I had an excellent day with the family. Walk at Stowe Park with the dogs middayish and a late lunch with too much wine in the afternoon. Oh and 4 shirts as a gift. What more could I ask for? All jobs put off for another time.  :y

Too late! And you carnt hold the cheese sauce as its poured over the broccoli just before it goes in the oven. Obviously there was gravy as well  ::) (made from the beef juices)
