Can anybody tell me if I can fit standard rear shocks on my 3.2 v6 Elite please? She is an 02 plate. The existing now knackered shocks have a sensor on them and I don't know if it has to be like for like. As it's the difference between £45 and £125 per shock I'm keen to know if this sensor is a must have. Only posting here as it won't let me access the other section. Thanks in advance.

It's self levelling air suspension. (At the rear)
You can fit standard shocks but you MUST change the springs as well, which means the rear will then be harder than the front, so arguable needs the front to match.
Sl shocks are £150-170 odd/ish with trade club. Twice that retail. GM only. But probably still the best option cost wise assuming the pump and levelling system still work?

Elites have self levelling, a pump in the engine bay (a small compressor) drives air into the shock. This helps maintain same ride height, no matter the weight in the car.
The springs are softer as a result, to allow for this.
If you fit standard shocks, remove fuse for SL pump and change the springs for normal ones.
Elite ride is smooth, some find it wallows too much. I have standard shocks and springs on my 3.2 :)

Thanks lads. I would love to go like for like but a 2 year old daughter and bills mean I'm looking for the cheapest option! So in short, harder springs and the fuse to the pump removed?

Fuse 27, will also disable rear aux 12v socket

Are you doing DIY? If so cost to switch to non-SL, could be cheaper. But if using garage could be more due to labour? :-\

Once you've bought ordinary shocks and springs the cost difference is minimal. And changing the springs makes it a much longer job.

Yep DIY. Thanks for the heads up on fuse number. Been Qouted £120 per s/l. 48 quid per standard. I now have to add in the price of some springs though so I get what your saying :-\

Do you not have access to Trade Club? GM SL shocks should come in around £70 plus VAT each on TC

Iv always been lead to believe that the rear springs are the same throughout the Omega range, except for the estate...
I removed the SL suspension in favour of MV6 suspension - then went onto fit lowered suspension.... I did change all 4 springs at the same time...
However, I have now refitted the SL shocks as the MV6 shocks I had installed previously have failed on 1 side. I have now reinstated the SL shocks but maintain the lowered suspension, nothing is compromised and the ride height is almost perfect for me. I even tow the caravan with no problems at all with the lowered suspension too :)

Basically Plod set up but with short, light duty springs then ::)
If you have any doubts over spring/shock variations across the Omega B range, just have a look at the EPC and count out the part numbers... ;)

don't take the fuse out you will lose the rear cigar lighter. instead pull out the relay. its the first or second on the left, interior fuse box. i think.
