This article supposedly discusses the increase in VED ...
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/pressass/20080709/tuk-road-tax-reforms-to-hit-9m-drivers-6323e80.html
now the minister says:
1/3 will be "better off" ( 33% ?? )
55% will be "no worse off"
and "just over" 44% will pay more ...
Now .. I'm no expert at mathematics but ... 33%+55%+44% = ???
am I missing something somewhere ???
-
Whichever way you do your sums, this Goverment will rip you off >:(

Everyone except the goverment can see it for the 'dangle berries' it is.
Does it matter if it produces a lot of CO2 if it is not being used?
-
Simple maths.
100% of V6 vauxhall Omega owners will be worse off. :'( :'( :'(

....after 2001 :-/
I really believe the goverment will start pushing that 2001 cut off back to encompass older cars, gradually :(

Presumably an Omega with a Co2 of 250 driven 3000 miles a year will produce no more Co2 than a super mini with a Co2 of 125 driven 6000 miles a year.
In summary it is not what car you drive , it is how far you drive it.

I've told you before .... stop using common sense and logic .. this is the labour government we are talking about .......

99% of statistics are made up and the other 10% are lies ;)

saddo that I am I was reading the debate on the 'theywork for you' web site.
The conseravtives and liberals were basically arguing for common sense and that a retrospective change was unfair.
Some of the labour comments were plain crass. They don't think the change is any more retrospective than road tax changes have been in the past. If they keep up that head in the sand arrogance they are heading to be kicked out big time..

Is this a variation on the old saying "there are lies , damn lies and then there are statistics"...... 8-)
