It struck me as a solution to a problem that doesn't exist using technology that attempts to defy the laws of physics.
I bought one because my new phone has an awkward waterproof cover over the charging socket that appears designed to break and I don't want to spend 5 minutes fiddling with it every time I get into the car.
I thought it was working for me but I changed my opinion today :(

Had to google that one :-[

Confused me ! ???

As far as i know it only works with the QI charging compatable phones like the Nexus 4,5&6 and LG G2 etc.

Samsung sell a Qi rear cover for the galaxy 5 so I bought one. It does charge the phone and I have been using it successfully for several weeks.

Good idea imo. Just put it down on the bedside table, on the carger. No dicking about looking for cables.
I did presume a phone holder with similar features was available for the car though...?

Yes, I have got one.

About 3 weeks ago I had to drive to Nottingham (4 & 1/2 hours each way). My DAB radio (which has worked near faultlessly for 10 years) worked intermittently >:( if it hadn't been screwed in it would probably have joined TB's TomTom at the side of the M6 ::)
It has taken me 3 weeks to realise that the start of the problem coincided with getting the wireless charger ::) poxy thing. Switched it off and DAB radio works perfectly again :y - FM doesn't work though because the plug fell out of the back of the radio last week when I was checking if the DAB aerial plug had fallen out :( going to have to pull the radio out to plug it back in :(

It works just fine :) if I don't want to listen to the radio ;D

Oh I see. A Jamesv6cdx post. Keep all the facts to yourself until someone offers a suggestion that you have an answer to. I seeeeee ;D :P ;)
Bah, it's gen dis. Where's Stmoan let him have a go. :D

I used to have a charging pad thingy for this Lumia. It worked, but it didn't seem to hold said charge as well as if it had been plugged in.
Could be complete coincidence, I never understand technology that isn't made of cogs.

When I bought my Nexus 5 I was looking on the XDA forums at QI chargers and there seems to be a big difference between the good ones and the crap ones on how fast they charge and the same goes for the car chargers, some are unable to charge the phone as fast as it`s using the power, even some wired chargers are like that.
The Air Dock looks like a quality piece of kit but is expensive.

similar technology has been used for years for charging electric toothbrushes.

Aye, but you can still use the toothbrush when the battery is flat. ;D
[RANT ON] Smartphones aren't really phones though are they? They do most things well apart from being a useable phone (Thank God the Bury car kit in my car can do it's own half decent voice dial) and inevitably they very rarely have a large enough battery in them to keep them going for an acceptable time. Needles to say, I still have to use a class 2 carphone at various sites I go to as class 4/5 devices just haven't got enough Tx power to reach the cell's [RANT OFF]

I am not familiar with these classes :-\
My Galaxy S5 seems to get a decent signal everywhere except where I really want to use it (at home and in the office) so as a consequence it gets used as a mini tablet and over specified phone book. ::)
