I think I need to replace the compressor not just the seals but garage is charging £130 for fitting new seals testing and re gassing but they want £260 if the compressor needs replacing based on me sourcing a second hand WORKING compressor.
I've seen some on ebay for £25 but I would rather buy of a decent person on here that is not going to fleece me for a broken one.
Anyone help I would really appreciate it!

So there is no gas in the system, they have a ramp and want £260 to undo 4 bolts and two pipes and unplug it, fit another one and re-gas. I'm in the wrong job.

£45 an hour cheap compared with some garages in derby and their database for that part says 4.2hours I'm sure its a lot quicker!

When I say seals that's what I mean readily availble for less than £5
Shame no one has replied with an actual offer of what asked in first place everyone just seems to question the detail of what I have written.

Thanks problem is I don't have time to do job so unfortunately have to go to garage but if I supply part it has to be working otherwise it would cost even more longterm, I nearly bought one on ebay but after ready oofs guide to replace I noticed it wasn't right even though seller insisted it was, the engine mounting holes were sideways through the compressor rather than on a V6 being through front from pulley
Don't suppose any one has correct part number to habd for V6 elite?

Did you get a compressor Pete - I have one here but I didn't have gas in the system so I can't be sure it's pressure tight.

Hi no I didn't but just a few hours ago I had the car retested and at this decent garage they found 4 separate leaks, on condenser, a pipe and the compressor so not worth fixing, they are going to try a rad weld type mixture to see if it seals from within but it's a big gamble we shall see

The condenser tends to be the weakest link due to age deterioration and they are a bit of a pig to replace in my opinion. When I changed the engine an gearbox on mine, I binned the entire AC system :D
Best of luck!
