Just opened a box of new VX front brake pads and two of them are different from the other two. See link.

Is this normal?
If it is normal. Which ones get fitted on the inside and which ones get fitted on the outside of the disc?
Thanks

Is normal... The studded ones only fit one way, but damnediff I can remember which as I have different calipers on mine :-[
-
Normal, I think I put the padded ones on the inside, otherwise the caliper would push against it.

Pad with shim goes on outside.

Pad with shim goes on outside.
Agreed, helps prevent squealing :y
-
Take the shims of the old pads and fit them to the non shimed new pads. They're only heald on with double sided tape.
-
trw pads have shims on both, no squealing

Not necessarily ;)
Might simply be a different brand of pad without the shims fitted... :y

Yup!
That guide needs editing now, whoops :P

I will fit the pad with the shim on the out side. :y
On the rear pads do I put copper slip between the shim and the pad or just between the shim and the caliper?

Both or neither, and don't forget the top and bottom edges of the backing plates :y
