Do I have this right?
There will be three new tax bands.
£0.......for electric cars only.
£140.......for everything else.
£140 plus £310 premium car tax for any new cars costing in excess of £40,000. Making a total of £450.

Can't be right.....can it?

Autocar magazine. Apparently from the horse's mouth or George Osborne in this case.

Only applies to cars registered after April 2017. :'(

From memory I've seen somewhere details of the new rules for 'old' cars - I'll see if I can find them.

Quote "Remember, these changes won’t apply to your current car – only to new cars registered from April 2017" I guess that means no change for us

Surcharge for £40k+cars only lasts for 5 years, so, come 2022, get a 5 year old guzzler, £140 tax. Job done. :y

I don't vote. Not that it would make a jot of difference if I did, given that they had something like a 20k lead on the other sack of idiots in this constituency ::)
Might as well be a labour policy anyway... premium car over 40k my arse! try over 90k, and then stick it up your chuffer anyway and just cut some working class scrote's benefits instead. >:(
