Hello all, my 2.2 started running poorly on start up when cold, like it was chugging on 3 cylinders. I cleared the oil breathers a little while ago . when I whipped the coil pack off I found the plug wells full of oil... The usual story. Gasket replaced, plugs replaced, coil pack replaced, still doing it. One moment its fine, then like a switch has been flicked, no power and chugging on 3, engine light on.
Had it plugged in at garage, the only code it pulled off was c0100 which I can't find referenced anywhere.
I'm open to suggestions what to try next? I bought this car a year ago at random since it was cheap and mot'd but its really grown on me, and I don't want to scrap this one! :'(

Is it loosing coolant? Also is the underneath of the scuttle dry?
-
Hi, no coolant is fine, oil is clean, owner is frustrated! :)

The foam under the scuttle? This can often soak up water from scuttle if not sealed. Water then drips into the plugs.
Worth investing in a cheap code reader :y

To me this sounds like the coilpack, I know you have changed it but did you use an original part? I ask this because I once bought a one of ebay which only worked for a couple of days. Another possibility could be the cam sensor, I am no expert, but have had all these problems over the years in a number of 4 pots, you really need the codes reading...... ;)

Agreed.......... :y

I have just seen where you live, give 'Darth Loo-knee' a shout, he will soon have you sorted..... :y :y

Mine was like that turned out to be the coil pack. Under the rubber boots on it a plastic bit had snapped off of it and exposing the metal underneath causing it to arc out. Also worth checking the rubber boots incase they have split :y

Thanks for all your replies. New Bosch coil pack, so the spouts are all new, the old ones were split and shocking. (!?) Hasn't made the slightest difference, so I don't think it's that. Most problems arise when I start it after work, seems OK when it's cold in the morning. In the afternoon its Lumpy, well out of balance engine light comes on., mostly OK after chokes off. Seems electrical cos it can happen sudden after 30+ miles of smooth running. I HATE intermittent faults!
Cam sensor next I think? Tried a code reader, only came up with a c0100 code that no one seems to recognise :( .
-
not a valid code :-\
Cam sensor can cause odd running, but really need a decent code reader, to see what's going on.
As above, have you checked the scuttle foam? Is it dry?

Think with all the rain we are getting, Be best to answer this one ::)

Hiya, scuttle foam is bone dry :-\

Humm. Pissing in the wind with no codes. I'd be checking plus and coil pack again.
But without codes, bit blind. PM Darth-Loo-Knee he could help :y

thanks i'll do that.
Anyone recommend a fault code reader that works with the omega and is not too many pennies?
