Hi folk. Can anyone advise me on how to open my dead 1996 omega?
It appears the battery has gone flat and fob won't open the doors. Trouble is the key won't open the door either. Nor will my spare key. Surely these should open a dead car? They open the boot but I can't get or see anyway into the cabin from there.
Just need to get power back in and hope the fobs work .
Is there a way to open the bonnet from outside?
All help muchly appreciated.

Try turning the key to the point where you think it will snap, then add another 1/4 turn :y
Oh and don't expect the button to pop up...

If the door aren't double locked, then you can easily go in with strong and thin metal wire, to pop up the knob.

I wish I could too, but the double locking on mine isn't working. :S

connect another battery via the starter motor I used a small golf cart battery when I had this problem . You can also connect through the rear light or a tow bar socket if you have one.

You said you can open the boot ...... connect your other battery to the boot light CAREFUL YOU DON'T SHORT IT .... easily done.
But as above, use the key in the door & use a bit more force than you think is necessary & it will open ...... honest!

Thanks for the advice guys. I did manage to open it eventually using a old method.
I think this battery drain is caused by a issue on the central locking mech on the passenger door. Maybe you folk have seen this before?
When I use the fob to lock the passenger indicators stay on, this is what's draining the battery. I also found that they illiluminated during the journey last night which I'd also which is a pita! I have to make sure passenger door is locked manually and press fob buttons till they go out again.
Is there an issue on the door loom or is it that my battery is at the end of its life?
I didn't dare try the key twist,, I am likely to snap it but "if" it happens again I will try it.
It does beat me why they car won't just open on the key when it's so dead. I did question Wether the door lock had been changed till I tried other similar keys...

Now you're in, test the keys do work (no force needed, as car has power). If they do, they are the right keys.
Due to the design, with no power, the lock is very, very stiff, esp if deadlocked.

As soon as I got power in I tried keys in the door and yes they're both correct.
In experience of my previous dead vx's, I have used the key in the door but never had to use such force on those. Ya live and learn and at least I know now.
Think the door card for passenger side will have to come off and see why the lock is not always working with the rest and also why window won't work with "one touch"

close the window & then keep the switch pressed for a few seconds until you hear a click ...... that should reset the 'one touch'

Yes, and you can lose all windows 'one-touch' if battery has been flat or disconnected. :y

Yeah I did all this, every window apart from front passenger reset. :-/ I do wonder if this is down to the central locking on that door not working ?

Where would I find this relay. I have pushed and pulled most of these under the steering wheel.
