Well Saturday is the day, the Vectra losses it's insurance and road tax and the Omega becomes my daily. It's sad as I love my Vectra, but rust waits for no one and the Omega is remarkably clean in that respect.
I may even go against the grain and actually wash it.

I know, I know, I'm likely to break it by washing it :D but it has been stood since May so it's looking rather sad and sorry for it's self. I've got to throw an oil change at it and then I'll start to properly assess what it needs, once it's on the road.

One of mine was supposed to be going in to have the front end painted the same colour as the back end, but that's had to be delayed. So I washed it for nothing ;D

Not for too long I hope? I am considering digging some other wheels out for the Omega though, 2 Triangle, 1 Autogrip and 1 Landsail doesn't inspire confidence. I'm half tempted to stick the 17's from the Vectra on it to start with, as they are wrapped in Toyo.

Are Vectra wheels a direct swap onto an Omega then?

Offset is slightly wrong, but with most 235/45/17 tyres, you should be OK.

The Vec B is 215/45/17. I don't like running the wrong offset, so it's a temporary measure. Once the Omega has proven it's self, then I'll treat it to a set of new 16's

You probably need to declare that to insurance co...

Valid point and whilst I suspect it won't make any major difference to the premium, I might as well just invest in the new tyres to start with.

Yesterday I went to start the car and found a flat battery. Install of jumping it, I decided to trickle charge the battery back up. It fired up fine - bit of HA noise but that quietened down once it had warmed up. I warmed it up for 10-15 mintutes, checked the fan was cutting in OK. Excellent. Check the tyre pressures tomorrow (now today) and it's ready.
I no sooner got in the house and I was rewarded for spending some time with Oscar. He decided to call me back with the alarm. I went out checked the doors and windows - all good. Reset and went back inside. 20 minutes later he wanted more attention! I went out and locked the car without the alarm.
It looks like I need to do some diagnostic. I'm going to finish this cuppa and go out with the computer to see which sensor is triggering the alarm. I'm suspecting bonnet sensor.

power sounder still connected?

Here is one decision that bit me badly. The other week the backend decided to give way on a wet roundabout. I wasn't going fast, but I ended up doing a 720 on a busy roundabout, ending up backwards into some arnco. Long story short, minimal damage to the car - bumper marked, trim above bumper broken, reflector MIA and a lovely dint below the rear light. Gutted.
No I'm not going through the insurance and yes the car is still drivable and safe. However it might mean that this car becomes a workhorse now rather than a long term project :(
