Title: Removing heater fan

Have just removed heater fan from car I am scrapping. I followed forum guide which involves removing the air bag. I changed a heater fan on my ex-police Omega 10 years ago, following Haynes, and I am sure i did not remove the airbag then. Have any other members done this job without removing the airbag?

Pulling the airbag and it's cover greatly increases access/light, and if you're scrapping the car, their removal won't make any difference to the scrap man...
