Title: Fiat Panda
Post by: Mr Gav on 04 August 2015, 17:39:22
Are the 1.3 multijet diesels any good or should I stick to the 1.2 petrol?

The diesel is only £30 a year road tax as opposed to £130 for the petrol.

BTW the car is for my girlfriend  ;)

TIA

We've got a 2009 1.2 petrol and had it from new. Been a fantastic little car and never let us down. Oh, and tax is £30/year ;)

plus they're all non-interference engines are they not? which is a great thing.

IIRC, its the same engine as the 1.3cdti that Vauxhall use in the Corsa & Astra.
I've got a early engine here in our corsa.
Pushes out about 70bhp (newer ones more like 90bhp)
Once above 1800 rpm, our corsa goes like shit of a shovel upto about 60mph and even with me screwing the gonads of it on a daily basis around town, I easily get 54 mpg or more our of it  :y :y
Injectors are a bit noisy when cold but after a dash of 2 stroke oil in the tank every couple of tanks full, it quietens right down  :y

The 1.2 8v is definitely non interference (assuming its the same engine as the Punto). Don't know about other variants.  :y
