Title: A/C stopped working. Taking bets on where the leak will be?
Post by: Webby the Bear on 05 August 2015, 20:07:37
Hi guys,

Had my A/C regassed couple of weeks back. Was vacuumed down and was holding it well. So we recharged it. How I lived without A/C for so long I simply don't know  ::)

Well anyways after a few days I noticed it wasn't as chilly as before and that it was idling at 400rpm as opposed to the 600rpm when the a/c is on.  ::)

So tomorrow I'm getting the garage's UV light out and 'aving a butchers for the leak (as I presume that's whats happened)

Anyone have an idea where to look first for the leak?

TIA  :y

Condenser / rad .. they seem to fall to bits after a while at the bottom edge  ::)

As Tony the Tiger says 'Grrrrrrrrrrrrreat'  ;D

Replaced a condenser on a Honda few weeks back and I gently pried one of the lines out and even working with it gently it broke and left half the fitting in the old condenser....hopefully if it I that the lines will come out ok

My money is also on the condenser . :-\

If it is,the plus side is its cheaper than the compressor and also easier to replace, but hope is just a valve leaking which will be a nice quick/easy fix  :y

Fingers crossed its a simple/cheap fix as A/C can get pricey  ::)

As its taken a week to discharge, start buy using new LP and remove and clean HP, also check were pipes go into, joint near lh bulkhead, bottom of condenser, then compressor, and under battery box.
About covers all usual places :)

Paul had his uv light ut for testing today and I remember saying ''I need to borrow that''......then proceeded to forget all about it.

Anyone replaced a water pump on a 11 plate corsa? bottom bolt holding the engine mount bracket to the block was a f....r to get out . took me about an hour  :-[

Thats why I forgot  :-[
