Correct, Mr Henry. Is this legal?

I have a working bulb in the passenger side but only five wires going to the connector. The wire for the fog light is absent. I have six wires going to the other side.

No I didn't.

I'm pretty sure the Omega had a matching pair. :)

Think about it......if it wasn't legal it wouldn't have got through an MOT or type approval...very very few cars these days have two rear fogs the same as few have two rear reversing lights

Maybe, but things are far better as pairs. Breasts and balls being  prime examples. :)

My 83 year old FIL took a holiday in Thailand a couple of years ago.

He innocently wandered into a dubious part of town and was approached by a beautiful young thai girl aged about 16 or 17.

She then whispered in his ear " you want me poppa" before lifting up her skirt to reveal a large dong.

He didn't wander away from the organised tours after that. :)

Vectra C is the same, but the bulb is present as the car is able to sense brake light failure and uses the fog bulbs as a back up... puts the bulb warning light on on the instrument cluster as well... :y that said the Design and Elite spec cars also have check control too ::)

As for FIL, what happens on tour, stays on tour :-X

There is a setting that via Tech2 changes the fog light position from left to right.

You only need one and it has to be the off side one.

Its the same for the continent so rather than make a left hand and right hand light clusters they just change the settings

If the brake fails its actually the side light bulb that takes over with a higher voltage to make it look like the brake light, not the fog light that illuminates

If you activate the abs you get six bulbs, all 21w all flashing. Having had four facelift Vectra Cs, I can't see the Signum being any different. Put another way, if it never illuminated, it would never have a bulb fitted ::)

Please read the manual - fog light position is country specific, opposing side can be used as a spare bulb holder - fog light does not illuminate in event of brake or side light failure, cheaper to have some donkey in a factory installing all bulbs at a few pennies each rather than having piles of country specific units cluttering up half of Germany.

Having owned 2 Signums, a pre facelift and a facelift, neither had a bulb in the near side fog light, both have the tail or brake light work as dual use in event of bulb failure

You obviously have an old manual, have a look here:- http://vectra-c.swi.hu/VectraManual.pdf specifically p226

Everything is likely to light up on failure as you can via the regional settings change which side the fog light is, you can also turn on DRL's if you are that way inclined
