I just went to Currys to purchase some batteries and headphones - £15 transaction. Lady at the till said card has been declined and rang through to Virgin MBNA for authorisation.
MBNA asked me to call them ASAP when out of the store, so I did.
They have said there are a number of transactions but mainly cashpoint withdrawls that have been made in India using my card.
I have certainly not been to India!!
There will now be a fraud investigation on my account and I should be able to get the funds back.
I have used this card VERY little, and I know all of the outlets I've used it at. There is one I am very suspicious of, for my own reasons, but I'd never be able to prove it :(
Ps, If you're reading Maria, I can't contact you - no phone!

Sorry to hear that James, all the best for getting it sorted.

Nothing is safe... and nobody to be trusted!! A sorry state to be in really! :'(

That sucks mate. This has happened due to the new ultra-secure computer controlled world we live in.

Yeah bosses take thier work home on laptops and get forgetfull.
James, sure they will have you sorted out in no at all, in the mean time, check all your accounts online on a daily basis. Go for papless billing as well, far too much is going astray in the post these days.

I also hate the Indian call centre, and allways wondered if the banks cutting corners have added to all these security issues. I have my thoughts but I dont think anything will ever be shown up.
-
A very good point mate. had not thought of that. I know our local indian was cloning cards and sending details to india. he is now inside... do miss his lamb tikka passanda...not worth a 5k credit card bill mind ;D

i only have one card with access to cash, i'm extremely careful where and how i use it, and i'm hawk-eye on the staff aswell
my girlfriend thinks i'm over-cautious, especially since i point out everything risky she does concerning money and identity theft, but i'm just looking out for us

Nobody else will mate! I tend to be over cautious these days

exactly, but i still reckon one day i'll fall foul, it'd be just my luck! The public automatically assume they're being dealt with in shops by "honest" staff, because we should be! But i've worked with a fair amount of didgy retail staff before, none stealing from customers though...
its fortunate these days that credit card companies appear to be recovering the losses for customers who fall victim though

I used to be a very trusing person. Has cost me thousands over the years, as well as heartache. I now am still a very trusting person... If its proven to me that the person is trusworthy. I also tend to bear grudges these days.. if its warranted.
I have sacked numerous nurses for various things.. picking on ill people in hospital... as a nurse... would love just to have shot them!! >:(

I no longer hold a credit card. I did have a Capitol One Visa but paid it off. I've just got the usual switch debit card now but worry when i "stick it in" an atm or use it over the phone etc. I found out a while back that supermarkets & other shops monitor what you buy & send or allow access to census places so now draw cash before i enter the store to pay @ the checkout. I find it a little disturbing that marketing people can monitor what i eat & drink.
As you've never been to India i'm sure you'll be reimbursed. Guy.

Id just be very very grateful someone hasn't use it too join a Peodophilia site or Bestiality ect ect.
