Title: Plumbing question
Post by: TheBoy on 09 August 2015, 14:08:14
With the new washing machine being (presumably) cold fill only, is there a cap I can put over the hot tap/valve where the old hot hose would have gone to prevent diasaster if the valve/tap gets knocked or leaks?

I think its the standard 3/4" fitting...

Yeah, but still wanted to seal it, as those valves are generally shite IME

Advisable to fit a rubber washer inside the cap as well  Jamie   ;)

If you have the tools lying around, it might be easier and cheaper to fit a solder/push fit cap and a compression joint to the pipe. Depending on the exit angle, you may need to turn the outlet tap so the cap doesn't obstruct.

I've seen plastic caps for washing machine valves around, with integral washers.

Yeah, I'm pretty good at joining bits of copper together, but don't do it enough to get the variety to know whats available :(
