Title: All Time Favourite Films
Post by: Dusty on 10 July 2008, 19:40:05
My all time favourite film is

THE ENGLISH PATIENT

I can watch it over and again and find it perfect. maybe it is a tad sentimental, and not to everyones taste, but the music and visuals are simply quite stunning.

What is your favourite and WHY? If it sounds good I'll definately hire on dvd. Just watched NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and although was a good film did not quite live up to my expectations :)

I too think these films are great. Especially the time when Paul Newman eats 50 eggs to win a bet :P :P

Another good film was Papillon with Steve McQueen was a great film too.

Loved Arlington Road with Jeff bridges. Shows that much terrorism in America is home grown, something we don't hear much of now.

Also loved Goodfellas with Robert De Niro and Ray Liotta, (and nasty little bas***d Joe Pesci)

Also Once Upon a Time in America again with Robert De Niro

Best Sci-fi 2001, made in 1968, has aged remarkably well, and still has an almost contemporary feel. :y :y

I'm not at all up on movies, get bored, seems to be all special effects nowadays but love Pulp Fiction. It seems to start & finish in the middle & goes all over the place but with a few veiwings it works out. Cracking soundtrack as well. CD in the Mig.

All interesting films mentioned, though I'm with EP and others - Italian Job (1969 one).

Though after getting back from flicks tonight (yes, made it in tonight, unlike last night, when I had to come home to bodge OOF) and seeing Hancock, I think I might need to see the new Italian Job again, as Charlize Theron is not unattractive ::).  Saying that, saw Valley of Elah the other day, and she looked rough in that...

I'm a big fan of the Sunday afternoon classic war film, sadly rarely on, and struggling to find some of them on DVD.

Longest Day, Guns or Navarone, 633 Squadron, Dambusters, A bridge too Far etc etc.

Bit of a fan of the old classic british war film. Reach for the sky, In which we serve, etc. Not too keen on some of the yank stuff, too gung ho. Loved Saving Private Ryan though. The Green Mile, The Blues Brothers, The Italian Job ( original) are a few other favs.
