I have ' lusted ' after an Omega elite since they first came out and briefily had a 2.6 Elite in 2001 for the weekend back when it was new. I would only want an Elite and of course it has to be auto. There are very few for sale at all and to find one that has not got moon mileage or one which has been abused etc is really difficult..... is there anywhere other than autotrader and ebay, gumtree etc to look ?
I have a very efficient fabia diesel at the moment which does 60 odd to the gallon and is £20 to tax ! But i would like an Omega even now, do mint, low mile cars still exist out there ?

Saloon or Estate, what's your idea of low mileage.
-
I have a 2.6 elite up for sale soon.

Look for a 3.0 Elite :y
3.0's are far better on fuel compared to 3.2's, with little difference in performance :y
Don't have faff around moving pre-cat sensors either :)

But that reduces the chances of a low mileage, mint car even more ;)

Saloon (just like the look of them), low miles........ 50-60k

The reason for the 3.2 is the fact i have a fighting chance of getting the cd unit slot instead of tape and the sat nav.

........ i did like my 2.6 when i had it for the weekend :)
colour, miles, fsh, does it have leather (i know they cam with cloth as standard), and the all important condition.

I don't have a " tape " slot in my 3.0 ?

:y Well i got that one wrong.... maybe a 3.0 litre as well. The most important thing is the condition, if the owner or owners have simply used it as daily transport and had it in a car wash (garage one) every couple of weeks then the bodywork will be shot to buggery, my cars have always been washed with a lambswool mitt with the only piece of bodywork touched by a sponge being the wheels ! Its this that really matters, and woudl indicate that the owner has looked after the rest of the car just as well.

Unfortunately, owners of such cars tend not to be members of OOF! And if an OOF member new of such a beauty, he would snaffle it first. I was fortunate enough to buy one 4 years ago at 48K. :y

They do come up from time to time but, as said, this might not necessarily be the best place to look.
I would buy any Omega on the condition of it's bodywork, though. I know a low mileage is reassuring, but the mechanicals on the V6 Omegas are pretty bomb proof, so a high mileage isn't necessarily a problem as long as it has a decent service history. Most will have started corroding a bit by now, though (rear wheel arches and doors, mainly) so I'd say it is more important to ensure those areas are sound than a low mileage.

I know, to be honest most cars are used in that way and very few are taken care of like i do with my cars....... but there is no rush and finding the right one could be a journey in itself 8)

Be better off with tape slot, the CD drives by now are all shagged ;D

Inboxed you ;)

Yes there are members of OOF who have such a car - and I don't use the multi CD either.........my age means radio 2 or 4. Never really thought that my car may be that hard to find? '52 - 3.2 - 84k - (bought 09/07 @ 60k) - petrol blue (not seen one other that colour) - everything on it I think (?) inc. col sat nav - rear blind etc. Treated as a member of the family with private medical treatment immediately at times of unwellness!! and you could eat your dinner off the top of my engine.
Seriously though, might this be a 'much wanted' spec in the future if I come to sell?
