Title: hypothetical oil cooler question
Post by: vauxsull on 14 August 2015, 09:17:52
Would it be best to change it ( as its the original one) for peace of mind or leave well alone? Only known coolant change its had ( I have all receipts from new) is when elite Pete changed it on the 50k miles mark. Now on 55k..

If it hasn't failed yet, leave well alone :y only an issue if plain water has been used for any length of time :y

I would leave it alone, just keep an eye on the coolant contamination if worried.

All the oil cooler fails Ive come across have been on 2.6 or 3.2's  :-\

The 2.5 I had suffered oil cooler failure... But then it was a neglected miggy... Right then I shall leave well alone..  Cheers guys

I meant to say the miggy I used to have was neglected by previous owners not me.. Elite Pete virtually prebuilt it.

If they fail do they more or less instantly gunge up the cooling system or can it "seep" over a period of months?

The water pump would whisk the slightest hint of oil into caramel mayo in no time...
