Title: Park Pilot Speaker Relocation
Post by: YZ250 on 16 August 2015, 20:06:52
Have any of you changed/relocated your Park Pilot speaker? If so, where have you put it please?

My speaker died recently on my Estate so I connected another speaker, unsoldered and looted from a travel dock speaker, and it is now working again. As the speaker used to test it is a little bit larger than the original speaker I have extended the wiring along the roof channel and down to the passenger footwell. I have temporarily left it resting on the hardboard under the glove box.

Is it best to buy a new speaker from Vauxhall and put it back in it's correct place or has anyone mounted it somewhere different successfully?
Cheers for any info.  :y

Guess you can put the speaker wherever you like, On Mrs VXL's Alhambra it's underneath the passenger seat along with the module, probably because it has front sensors as well.

I put mine behind the pax LH kick panel, with a few holes drilled in the appropriate position, and it sounds fine. I used a tweeter IIRC. :y

I tucked mine into the cavity behind the load cover trim above and outboard of the passenger side rear seat back latch...

Have fitted it in a similar place on saloons to good effect too :y

Cheers chaps.  :y

As I had already extended the wiring to the passenger footwell, I stuck it behind the kick panel for now. As the speaker I have used has a faceplate I could drill a hole and mount it so that the speaker and faceplate sandwich the kick panel to make it acoustically better, but I bet I never get around to it.  ::)
At least it's working again.  :y

Might be worth looking for a scrapper with CARiN satnav, and nick the kick panel, speaker grill and speaker ;)

That sounds like a good idea, as when I reversed out of my drive I thought it had packed up again, but it was just the aircon blower noise had drowned it out.  ::)  Think I need to either relocate it to make it more audible or drill the panel to allow the sound through........or get a hearing aid. It sounded ok when left hanging under the glove box.  ;D

With a small hammer that hits the driver on the bonce when he gets close enough?

Even YZ250 would "hear" that ;D

That's not too far from the truth as I was going to wire them in to headphones,  ;D  but the headrest is a cracking idea.  :y ;D  Even I should be able to hear it there.  :y

Apparently my park pilot is fine, it's my hearing aid that's packed up.  ;D ;D

Oh, Alan, Alan, Alan...........

Only kidding about the hearing aid.  ;) :y

Think I'll drill the kick panel and flush mount the speaker, like the Carin speaker, as TB suggested, or drill a hole to let the sound through as Shackeng suggested.  :y
Cheers for the input.  :y
