Had a new water pump fitted last week,,,afterwards the heater was working...today it isnt,it only gives lukewarm air...took it back to the garage and when i picked it up it was working,however after leaving the car for an hour and then went out in it heater only blowing cold or at most lukewarm...any ideas please as much as i like omegas this car is doing my head in..thanks :( :(

If all was work OK before the water pump was fitted, I'd suggest an air lock :-\

Garage said today,,no air lock in system and they did get the heater working,,but later it went cold..so just been reading on the guides on here that on one occasion a member had same problem and he took it for a ...italian tune up for ten miles and it cured it....although all the bleeding and burping did not...so yes its worth a try to see if the air comes out so i will try that..thanks,

obviously there was ::)
People don't take their time filling the system, hence the air locks

Put heater to HI, take car for drive to get hot, come back count to ten, SLOWLY remove cap,allowing pressure to release, allow to tick over for couple minutes with lid off, then top up,put lid on,airlock should be gone car all toastie n warm. :)

Took car for a 20 mile run.....heater full on after ten miles nothing hardly noticeable at all..so turned heat off for 8 mies and then turned it on and there was nice hot heat but only for 30 seconds then went back to hardly warm......just seen suggestion of putting heater on high get it hot stop engine count to ten and slowly release cap....I waited a minute or so before slowly releasing cap a bit and straight away the coolant rose to the top and tried to escape....so bit by bit i released the cap until it was ok to take off and started engine on tick over and noticed bubbles going into the tank from the small hose that went to the the throttle body..But after 5 minutes or so on tickover the coolant rose to the top again and began to over flow and still heater was cold..so i just dont understand what is wrong...both heater hoses are hot :-\

I am begining to give up with this car as just cant get the heater working although the heater pipes in and out of the matrix are hot,,,,,so how can this be ???? so tomorrow from cold i will try once again try to bleed the system of air as per suggestions on here,,,in the meantime if anyone has any ideas that will help i would be very gratefull... :y :y

Also try squeezing main coolant pipe top right as car warms up, I had an air lock once. Started car, cap off coolant bottle, heaters on full, squeezing the big fat coolant pipe as it warms up. Few revs every now and then help car warm up quicker, better holding same RPM rather than reving.
Soon gets up to temp, this cured an airlock and poor heat for me :y

Has the hbv been changed ? Just a thought :-\

If the matrix flow and return are getting (and staying) proper hot does that not suggest a problem with the mixer flaps behind the dash?
-
You need to keep it set to HI foir the entire process ::) what temp is the dash gauge showing when the heater drops off?
Anything below 85° and your thermostat is probably toast :y
