I really like the look of these cars and, at £22000, this one is not outrageously priced.

40mpg and an auto? ;D
Had a diesel auto as a insurance replacement and it used more fuel than the Omega ;D
Ok, it was the 1.8tdci ::) note to Markie Mark, if you want a gutless piece of crap for work, get an 1.8 diesel mundeo estate ;)
-
Does seem a bit optimistic ;D
Love the look of it, though.💕

You've only just bought yer Astra!!!!! ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D

Hardly news or ground breaking ::)
The Insignificant was launched with this feature seven years ago ;D

Suspect one of those will be my brothers next car when his 330d is past its best...

Too much...of everything....except space.
I like the idea of something that will take a load and still get down the road.

now this mondeo we do agree on. really sexy car.
-
I suspect they do a 5 series estate version with the same running gear, which might well be Jasons next company car 8)
-
If, and I say if we get them ::) I hope they are more reliable than the 530's were! The X-drive is the new bit & i'll be interested to see how it copes :-\
But on the plus-side By jeeeeeees it can shift!!! :y

Nope! they may do one, but we've been told the 5 series is defo out!

Ah yes of course... Austerity measures ::)
-
We measured one up against a 5 & length ways its only about a couple of inches shorter, but inside you can defo feel its smaller. I for one have to shoehorn myself in & out of one :( :( :( and thats my only criticism so far. Goes like stink & corners like its on rails!

Ok for chasing bad guys but not my idea of a daily runner.

Where are you gonna stick your cones?
Don't answer that. ;D

Surprisingly, we can get 10 in the boot, but not much else ::) ::) ::)

Erm....................For versatility no, bombproof engine no, built like a tank no. But and its a BIG but, I hate to say it, the T5 has had its day :'( :'( :'( For performance and driveability these new BM's would beat it hands down. Because we've gone to (wash me mouth out) diesel, the Volvo engine in diesel guise simply wasn't up to it :'( & blew cylinder heads left right & centre whilst on test :'( :'( :'(
-
Which is precisely why they relaunched the T6 AWD :y
-
Everything has it's day and, in it's day, the V70 was a fantastic bit of kit. But that was quite a long time ago........
-
Like the omega. In it's day, it was simply the best estate around for motorway use......
-

Yup, and after being twiddled with, fried the cylinder head. Our colleagues at Merseyside have em & they're off the road more than the 5 series ::)
-
A side effect of manufacturer service schedules rather than preventative ones...
Seeing alot of that with Surrey/Sussex... cars coming in for servicing and being sent back out with %worn, but serviceable discs/pads knowing full well that they'd be back in a couple of thousand miles later for new... or conversely car might come in needing a couple of tyres, and 6-700 miles shy of a service only to be sent out with new tyres to come back a week or so later for the service...
Doesn't sound like a big deal, but each time a car comes into the workshops, it's out of service for two or three days :-\
-
When ours go in for a service we don't see em for weeks, irrespective of condition they get whole new brakes & fluid, tyres, steering joints, all the light bulbs (yes you read correctly BULBS!) and anything else thats worn. If the DPF light is on (God forbid) it goes back to BMW ::) ::) ::)

What planet are you from? ;D
£22000 for a dreary old Mondeo. ;D
-
Strewth...it gets worse. It's not even new. :-\

..........

I have the 435d auto and can confirm that they do indeed shift. :y
They are also very good on fuel. Ours is used for very short runs (very bad for it I know) and it will still average 42mpg. On a run it will easily do over 600 miles on a tank of diesel. Not bad for something that does 0-60mph in under five seconds. :y
-
FatherTs XF is near 200bhp. Easily gets 45mpg out of it, that's an auto too.
The CLS 320s I've been eyeing up at 3.0 diesels ans 40mpg is achievable. :)
-
Six months or a year now this Mondeo is a sub £10,000 car.
It may make more sense then. :y

Have you had a test drive in either a diesel or a 'proper fuel' CLS yet, Mr Tunnie?
As said before, they are a lot of car for the money. :y

Not yet....
I've also not driven MotherT's 2014 E Class Estate, or much of FatherT's XF. As I know once I get back into my Omegas, I will release how crap they are ;D ;D ;D
Replacement CLS also opens up the issue of no more DIY service :'(

It will certainly feel very dated. That's progress for you. :)

There is that. But whatever you buy, unless you buy an old British classic, you will probably be up against the same thing.
If memory serves the Mercedes Indie I used charged about £65 P/H plus VAT.
Main dealer Merc charged ridiculous money. :-\
-
Driven the XF a bit, but even just moving it around shows age of the Omega.
Starting it up, keyless entry, rotary dial rises from the dash to control gears. Aircon which actually keeps you cold, even when working Omega system is noisey and a bit weak. Not so in the XF or Merc.
With the 2.2 not being anyway near as smooth as it used to be, using oil, broken aircon and feeling like 181k miles I'm avoiding driving new cars ;D

Big plus to keeping the old girls, as including the VAT that's the same as a tank of fuel for the 3.2 and 2.2 :o

Of course newer cars will feel smoother and more refined... will that still be the case when you seriously start looking at 100k+ mile examples? I very much doubt it...

Your welcome to come have a wee sit in mine if you venture this far north, only 85k so far but still feels good! ;)
-
Quite happy with my two thanks :y
270k and 168k respectively and both feel nicely run in from a driving perspective ;)
-
Back to the OP. ::)
If I was in the market for a new estate, the Mundano would be at the top of the list, as I reckon it's the best looking car in that price range! :y
