If you had to explain it I bet she is a Mackem, a lot of in-breading in that land; SWMBO is also from there, whilst I am a Tackem.............. :D :D

I always get Mackems and Tackems the wrong way round....  ....which leads to some "interesting" discussions when mislabelling some of my Geordie colleagues on conf calls ;D

I think that Sunderland AFC were always called the Mackem,s before someone decided that they should now be called the Black Cats. Must say that i have never heard of Tackems before.

Makems (make 'ems) are from Sunderland, takems (take 'ems) are from Newcastle. You makem, we'll takem.

So are the Makem lassies better looking than the girls from Newcastle?  :-\  and the Newcastle lads get over the Tyne to takem Makem lasses?  ::)  ;D
