Driving from cold on the way to work if I get stuck in stop start traffic after about 5 mins of doing this the car trys to idle but the revs feel like they drop and its going to stall. This happens wether its in drive or neutral. When traffic clears and I can drive normal for a few miles, when doing stop start driving again it will run and idle fine.
any ideas please.

Any Codes?
-
No codes..

Start of a misfire?, try unplugging the Maf, does it get better or worse.
Also what's the temp gauge doing when this happens?
-
Will try the maf .. trouble is it only happens now and again. Can I leave it unplugged for a few days. Temp is either just warming up so around 80

Initial thoughts are that either the ECU is being given duff temperature readings during warm up or that you have 'carburettor icing'
Any frost on the throttle body?
The 3.2 gets air temperature from the MAF so the MAF is one suspect. It gets coolant temperature from a different sensor to the dash so you need a code reader that can show live readings if you want to check that one.

Ideally you want to unplug the maf when its doing it, leaving it unplug it will run rough and drink petrol.
I was half thinking, stop start traffic, temp going up, hence air intake temp going high and map miss reading. :-\

Do the throttle butterlies fully shut?

Do the throttle butterlies fully shut?
Yes and both clean..

Any airleaks in the intake?
-
Not that I know off
-
Change maf for a new bosch one and its still as bad as every if not worse.. Any ideas please.
-
All plug wells dry and no sign of corrosion on the coil packs ???
-
Yes all clean and dry.
-
crank sensor starting to fail.?
-
Now you have a gadget...
what is MAF reading at idle?
What is desired engine speed
What is actual engine speed
