You will never meet a nicer and helpful chap -

A long time ago, I learnt the mechanical principles from my Grandad who was a supurb aircraft engineer (yes, he designed, not fitted!  :) )

But it's  fair to say that a considerable amount of my modern engine knowledge that I have learnt and put into practice, has come from Mark :y

I can praise him as I know he won't see this ;D

From the very first moment I joined a certain other forum, Marks DTM Calib was always one of the first to offer advice on niggling little issues I had with my MV6.  I made a lot of use of his Howto guides to keep her running sweet and cheaply.  I had a stressful time in France about 3yrs ago, when I had to leave MV6 there, and get it brought back on low loader - again, he offered advice and confirmed my suspicions with the crank sensor (though the symptoms were not what I would have thought).  So the day it arrived home, I had a new sensor to bolt on.

I was lucky enough to meet him for the first time about 2.5yrs ago, when he did my cambelt at the (in)famous Nottingham Cambelt Party.  I immediately found him, as per online, approachable, friendly, and knowledgable. And more than willing to share and explain that knowledge.  Also, unlike many people who are incredibly knowledgable in such subjects, alwasy willing to listen to alternative ideas.

Every time I go up to see him - sadly, normally only when I need something doing - I am always welcomed into the DTM household.

I always feel very guilty, as I am unable to return his favours  :-[

Yes, a fine chap indeed.  A man I am honoured to know.

If you see an old, fat bloke with sagging eyes, looks like he has a bad hangover, come say hello to me ;D

Ok, if this is a praise Mark thread, my story has to be one of the best.

My MV6 had been off the road at my 'mechanics' for months, with a nasty water leak.  Even Ljay hired a car so we could get to the lakes meet where I met Mark for the 1st time.

Shortly after he took pity on me and said if you leave the car with me for a week I will fix it.

And he did! battled it hard and pretty much won.  He has done loads more work on my and Ljays cars since, and taught me how do do a lot which I am now putting into practise.

Ljay & Mrs DTM got on from the second they met, and share break knows how many texts a night!!!!  by the 2nd time they met they had already decided to share a tent a Newent.

A great pair! (and family) we all get on very well!  :y

Sorry if this causes you any embarrasment mate, but I owe you big time  :y
