Actually, considering the expertise on this forum, I doubt that it's much of a challenge.
My problem?
I was replaqcing the filler door locking solenoid a while back and managed to pull a wire off - yellow, it is. I am unable to take/load a photo, so therein lies the challenge - where the **** does that yellow wire come from/go to? It emanates from the solenoid connector, but I cannot see any evidence or witness marks/signs to indicate where it belongs.
I have a small, unspoken, private bet with myself as to who will answer this for me..... :-X

Ground wire spot welded on?

One of many wires left after retro fitting some after market tat.

I will definitely have to find out how to post pictures on here. The wire in question looks like it has been cleanly stripped of its insulation for about 10 mm at the end and no sign of a spot weld - just like it had been pulled out of a connection somewhere.
If it had been a left-over wire from another installation, my solenoid would stilol work; it doesn't!
I would quite like the filler door to be lockable again, with the price of petrol these days and the scaly-backed brigade ever ready to help themselves to mine!

Check the connector to the solenoid, you will probably see a metal insert with no wire in it where the cable has been pulled from.
-
in which case you have likely pulled a wire out from the solenoid itself. Is there a jacket where you have one or more wires going in? You may find that the yellow wire should go in there which means disasemble to repair I guess :-\
Some pictures on the web suggest that there might be a yellow wire connected to the solenoid.

Sorry it wasn't the best idea but with these older motors it's a good possibility.

"mka306", NO need to apologise, all suggestions are welcome and I'm grateful that you took the trouble to reply, so my sincere thanks to you and all the other kind folks who replied.
As I do keep lots of odds and ends in that compartment (yes, I know I didn't oughter!), my having accidentally pulled that yellow wire from a connector was uppermost in my mind and I did what I thought was a thorough inspection - obviously not!
There's at least one person on here that knows every single wire, connector and parameter of our cars intimately, but he is obviously still asleep..... ;)
