Wife's teacher friend had her beetle written off by a young driver. He admitted liability and his ins co paid out. Her premium has increased three fold. When she asked why, the accident not being her fault, she was told that, statistically, she is more likely to have another accident.
About five years ago, my wife went round a corner in icy conditions. The car didn't want to go with her and she hit another car on the opposite side of the road. Her fault, our ins co paid to repair both cars. Her ins premiums didn't go up at all.
Huh?

Its a case of them trying to make a quick buck. Did she not argue the point and get a better deal, or get a better deal elsewhere. Swmbo had a bloke drove into the side of the Rover 820 SI, and he admitted liability, and the insurance never went up after our claim.
Commonly known as ..'Rip Off Britain' :y

Yeah, that's bobbins, just her insurance company trying it on.
Mrs 944's company (Admiral) tried the same when she had an accident (her fault). They wanted over double (£550 -->£1200). We moved to another insurer and got it down to just over £700.

After my 2.2 was written off ( numpty left his handbrake off), so no fault on my side. Aviva decided to load my next premium by 150% >:( Changed to Saga and got it for less than what Aviva charged me originally.

It affects the risk factor put on you. Some sceanrios will cause increase, some decrease, some none. Add in postcode, car, individual, and a result is calculated.
