Compressor bearings ?

Not sure how to test but a long screw driver or similar metal rod on compressor ,other end to ear and see if the noise is from there.

Dont see much lese could give that problem as only the compressor pump is moving the rest is just pressure and cooling

Are the bearings replaceable amba or is it a new compressor  :-\

Not really sure tbh. Expect bearings are available as sure I remember my AC guy saying he has done them before but by the time you replace seals etc it easier just fitting anew pump, trouble is they are best part of £200 then fitting and regas so not a cheap exercise.

My ac does sound quite rattly when its running but as long as it works and keeps car cool or dry just live with it .If real metal /metal sound then expect something will let go sooner than later so try the ear test first before condeming it but cant see what else it could be.

Worry is if the bearings are starting to break up they will be leaving small metal deposits inside the system which will further kill it.Remember when had compressor replaced before guy showed me the oil from system on his hand and had loads of small metal filings in it .

Ended up needing new compressor/and dryer unit so hurt my pocket .

Best of luck with it
