Title: the bloke that bought my miggy
Post by: vauxsull on 08 September 2015, 10:58:06
Back in June says it failed its mot... Needs plugs as its running rich and not firing on all cylinder's.. I changed the plugs around 10k before selling it. What's the best thing to do to stop it running rich? Surely more than plugs??

Likely a misfire caused by any of:

DIS pack failure
Lead failure
Water/oil in the plug wells

As above, if it's not firing on all pots have an issue there.

Codes will help, see which pot is causing trouble.

If pot is clear and not full of oil/water, try moving the HT lead (if it has them) see if the fault moves...

Dis pack was changed last summer... Cam covers changed summer of 2013.. Leads where the only thing I never changed so don't know how old they are.

I nurtured this Miggy in the 2 plus years I had it and only sold it in June.. Not my responsibility anymore but if I can help the guy out out I will.. He's. SORN'd it at the moment so another miggy not on the road..

fouled plugs will likely be a sympton of running rich not a cause

Running rich is also caused by the CTS (coolant temp sender)...

But if its got a misfire, Id check ignition system..
