Title: For those who lament the passing of the tax disc.
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 15 September 2015, 15:26:22
A quick glance at the windscreen and you will once again know when your road tax is due. No more pissing about on government websites trying to find out, or getting angry when the costly reminder drops on the doormat.

Free of charge  and you can customise your disc as you see fit.

You could indeed.

I'm very polite though and wouldn't write anything like  'fack orf you nosey bastard'

There is no need to be unpleasant. :)

Called in home Monday...brown envelope on the floor. I thought, 'Bloody hell...speeding'
But no...reminder of tax renewal for the saloon. Did not realise it was due. We always looked at the tax disc and were aware of a forthcoming renewal.
I miss the tax disc

Other countries still have a tax disc type arrangement Germany has two on the number plate, one for tax and the other for their "MOT" as far as I am aware. Makes it easier to catch the tits out there how don't have tax and no MOT or insurance to boot.

The idea to abolish the tax disc was no doubt thought up by a 'twentysomething' focus group.

I'm sure these young hotshots never do anything without a phone, a laptop, or the latest 'app'.

Change with a purpose is good, we need this to evolve.

Change for the sake of change is not.

Appologies, good Dr. I forgot to thank you for the link.
I can assure you, the minute we arrive home, I will be printing three of those discs for my Omega's.
Your post is much gratified by myself and swmbo, who with me, thought it a 'damn good idea' :y

Any old parking attendant could report you with an out-of-date tax disc. Not now  :P

Was thinking of knocking my own up like this, before I saw that people already sell these 'novelty' discs (and very useful for classic cars, too, to give it that 'period' look.)  :)

The ability to instantly see how much tax you have remaining........now gone.

The ability to buy another car and drive it home without pissing about trying to tax it first.......now gone.

How is this progress?
