recently seen a chase which involved numerous police cars chasing a car taken in a burglary. the helicopter was involved. two police cars were rammed, the scrote was given a two months sentence. myself think at the very least they should be made to pay the cost of the chase which must run into thousands. custodial sentence mandatory, payment to the victims . the guy in question used to live near me & one particular year my car insurance literally doubled , when I asked why I was told it was because a prolific car thief lived in the street. he now lives the opposite side of York to me & was done yet again last week for driving smashing into cars, mounting pavements whilst trying to evade arrest. he got 7months this time & banned for another year. >:(

When he gets out, you should go have a word with his neighbours and tell them why their insurance has gone up...

Always find it somewhat absurd[is that the word I'm looking for?]that car thieves who generally have no licence in the first place get a ban as part of their punishment,as though next time they think of nicking one they stop and think "Oh hang on a minute I can't nick that cat as I'm banned".Custodial sentences seem at times too light for the offences committed after nicking the car in question, and how some of them get off without a court appearance due to lack of evidence when there's 20mins. or whatever of police footage of a high speed chase and arrest is totally beyond me!

Compare this to the US where they carry out summary executions from helicopters. :o ::)

Ah,that I feel may be just a step too far, although thinking about it hmmmm :-\

You do have to wonder at justice.
My Dad watches these police action camera programmes avidly and then just looks blank when I ask him how many YEARS did he get for his total disregard for road rules and saftey of others. (two months suspended sentence to go with a thousand others). Three strikes is quite a good system.

Drug dealer premises, obviously not new to the business on u tube. bars and steel doors which the police spend time and resource cutting thru.

Yep, it's totally insane! As if a ban is any deterrent to someone who is already banned or drives with no licence anyway!
It's just a deterrent to changing their ways and getting legal, IMHO. If they don't have a license in the first place, the sentence should be extended by an amount equivalent to the ban they would have handed out.
It's a real shame you actually have to kill someone before getting a proper sentence for a driving offence in this country. If you cause a car chase, you are showing zero regard for anyone who's unlucky enough to end up in your path, so you should get a punishment equivalent to a "Causing death by.." driving offence, in my view.

Unfortunately Kevin, that rarely happens. >:( (the sentence, I mean, not killing someone)

Take heart Terbert, sometimes they do get half decent sentences...

Six years, nine months is a pittance for those girls, and will never bring them back... however, it is a damn site more than some get...

He'll probably act like a model prisoner and some limp wrister will recommend that he gets released on licence, let's hope he gets run down by another like minded nobhead on his way home from prison....save a lot of trouble all round :y
-
Probably worth adding that driving whilst on a ban is actually a criminal offence and could carry a custodial sentence depending on the judge / courts mood.

Yes Al, at least its a start. Justice has been belittled in this country, by a number of things, including smooth talking barristers. How some can sleep at night, I'll never know.

Silk sheets and down pillows help... :-X
