Hi this just happened, engine starts , spanner icon comes on the about 10 seconds later the TC light comes on. Go to drive the car and it feels like the handbrake is on, It is reluctant to move. Any ideas? Thanks

Needs a Tech 2 session to identify what is happening, but sounds like an Abs glitch... :-\
Basically Tc acts by braking the rear wheels (abs controlled) and cutting the fuel (ecu controlled, as instructed by abs).

Hi thanks for the answer, abs light is on as well now. Is there anyway of over riding the abs?
-
Think you will find that ABS is a requirement for MOT. Don,t know about normal day to day use though. :-\

Not legally... new or refurbished ABS ecu are your two options...

Not sure if you are sorted, but this link in our maintenance section may help you......

Further to H K T's reply, the one other option is to try a secondhand part. Maybe not the best option, but I did just this three years ago, and purchased a known working unit for a few pounds from a trusted member on here, and all has been well since. :y

you need to plug the old girl in to some diagnostics. No point in just guessing and bolting bits on. Could cost you a fortune and fix nothing.

Any strange behaviour from the speedo?

Generally on post 1998 ABS units on the V6, ABS light and TC lights on are a knacked ECU. But get it on a Tech2. If Tech2 says all OK, or can't read it, then its the ECU.
There are about 3 fuses feeding it, check them all.
