Got a lift from a bloke today who was driving a Saab soft top on a W reg.We were passed by a 57 plate Astra and he commented that he was surprised that Astra of that age was still running as it was a Vauxhall and he'd never got along with them. When I said but this is a Vauxhall he said no it was a Saab and was built before Vauxhall took Saab over :o

Was it a Thema estate they did? Saw some sort of Lancia estate turbo in Monaco last year, went to attempt conversation with the owner in my terrible French, and she turned out to be English. Very lovely, very rare car.
I still hanker after either a 9000 Aero or a 9-5 estate. Once the other cars are roadworthy, if not technically finished...

In fairness to the chap, GM might have been pulling at the purse strings at the time, but a 9-3 has next-to bugger all in comparison to a MkIII Cavalier it should have been based on.
Likewise, the 9-5 has very little to do with the Vectra.
I'm actually looking for a later (>56/07) 9-3 Convertible for the Wife at the moment.

I think it might be a VW reference, given his employer... Every VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda ever made is basically based on whatever the current Golf is at the point pen hits paper :-\
