Hello all. New purchase (auto v6) has a few niggles in trying to address.
The main one is that I think it ticks over a little high and every so often it drops the revs and then picks up again. Sometimes it drops and cuts out, but it generally decides to do that when you're trying to pull out of a junction ::) obviously!
Other than that it does seem to be 'dragging' on the gearbox slightly when doing this so I have to knock it in to N. (This may be why I'm having gearbox issues but one step at a time!)
I've checked for air leaks both with eyeball mk1 and brake cleaner spray and nothing obvious. Another suspicion is possibly faulty coolant temp sensor as may be over fuelling?
Anyway, any ideas? :)

Id suspect the ICV meself, this is what mine did on my 2.5 V6 but you don't say what engine you have...

Swapped that for a known good one :)
It's essentially a 3.0 (well a 3.2 on 3.0 management)
Maybe afm is worth a go? Swapped the intake air temp sensor already too

Worth checking all of the vacuum pipes especially the rubber T joints and bends as they can perish over time. Iirc some people on here have had problems with servo leaks.

Yeah, that was going to be my next step I think. Thanks :)

Does your car have air con?
-
Is the TC light flashing when the power drops?
-
Has air con but it's out of action at the mo due to leaky hard pipe
No tc light
Does the same on petrol and gas
Did some plugging in, reckons dodgy rpm signal so crank/cam sensor?

Bit of a long shot, but pull the fuse to prevent the air con compressor from running and see if the problem goes away.
I had the stalling happen to me, but I had 2 simultaneous problems. 1 was no air con gas after a leak - I think the compressor still kicks-in occasionally. I also had a weak battery - since the alternator is intelligent and only charges when needed, it drops the engine revs as it begins charging again.
I was never able to prove it, but one or both of these was happening at traffic lights, roundabouts etc, and stalling the engine.
But now since the air con was repaired and a new battery fitted - no stalling.
See what you think.
