Title: ATF - what's what?
Post by: Diamond Black Geezer on 28 September 2015, 14:48:12
By the looks of it, Castrol TQ DIII is the same as /for use with Dexron III 'boxes...

My question is at £58 for a 20litre tub... or £8-odd EACH for a 1 litre bottle, at my local B&Q I spotted some Castrol TQ DIII reduced clearance at £1 per bottle. ONE POUND per litre! Any issue with using this in my 'box? Opie Oils sell it, and by all accounts it seems fine.

I have read that Fuchs titan 4000 is thought of as oil of choice, but just checking it's not known as the devil urine, or anything  :y

Easy, stick some in your hair and if it stinks the same and is impossible to wash out then it's good :)

Thats a discriminatory comment against a fair number of members, myself included! ;)

Hang on, my brain has just popped up with a more disturbing possibility...

I just got back from my local B&Q and they are now out of stock of the stuff :)

It's all in the boot of my Omega now - all 11 litres of the stuff...

It's not Castrol though....? it's Carlube.... fully synthetic.... :)

Just need to buy the filters for the gearbox now, it's due an oil change anyway...

Will the same stuff work with the powersteering...?

No you need Dex II for that, Dex III will dissolve the rubber pipes.

Mine only had 7 litres, bah!! Even inquired if they had any more. Given that only half the 8.8 lites tends to some out of the 'box I'm happy with that. 7 liters for £7.  :y

Hope we all approve of another Bargain DBG Tip of Day  ;D

Just been to b*q in hoofland, no atf, no cheap oil. But did notice ratchet spanners £2.74-£5.00 each, various other spanners £1.00. :y
