MrsGK informs me that there appears to be some undesirable movement in the area. What's a good budget setup, two or three cameras? Can I link them to check on one of our phones?
I'm also considering landmines...

Just reading this thread, seems you have the best system there is.
A wife. They miss nothing ;D

Alas, we both work shifts, so we want a bit of extra...

don't know if you have electricity that far up the country but if you do and can find a makro they have some good systems on offer with night vison as well which will be a good thing for you as its grim up north.

Do they come with automatic whippet detection? And a hanger for my flat cap?

Right, you bunch of piddle taking merry-Andrews, does anyone have anything constructive, or am I destined to have a topic full of idiocy?! ;)

You can get a basic budget system, with 2 cameras and a HDD recorder that also has LAN built into it so you can check on the system via your phone using an app of your choice...
I have 4 cameras up, all dome cameras, all bought brand new, colour in daytime then nightvision at night, they are limited but do the job they are supposed to do...
My systems consist of
4 x cameras
1 x HDD recorder with remote viewing
1 x 4 amp powersupply
Thats all I need :) works brillaintly and records on a continuous 24 hour loop...
Cost was around £130 all in, using Ebay :)

Ta MF! Any idea on manufacturer? :D

All are no-makes LOL
Except for the HDD recorder where that seems to have originated at RS Components, think it might have been NOS as the machine I bought was still wrapped in clingfilmy stuff and looked to be brand new when I opened the box...
It does help that I used to be a CCTV installation engineer, but am well out of practice (and fitness) when it comes to running up and down ladders LOL

This seems to be a good basic system, and well priced too :) :y

BTW you can use the plastic dome cameras outside, if they are installed under the eaves of the roof and not directly exposed to the elements :)

Take a look at Wickes store , they have security systems
on offer right now :y
