hi, will a 96 engine work in a 2000 car on a 2000 ecu? many thanks

Rule of thumb is to use the existing loom/sensors/ecu on the new engine...

BUT...

As you're also changing transmission type as well, you will be better off fitting the loom, sensors and ecu to match the new engine. This will leave you an empty plug next to the battery, but no other issues... :y

Using the rule of thumb approach will require reprogramming the ecu to electronically remove the gearbox from the car.

Thanks 😊 I was planning on taking the wiring loom etc from the 96 to save having to mess about with the neutral switch etc, because I'm planning to put the mv6 inlet manifold on I didn't know if it was worth getting an manual mv6 ecu or just fit it and get the 96 ecu "chipped"

Inlet manifolds will be the same so not sure what you're hoping to gain... ::)

Manifolds are not the same mv6's were not realised till 98, my 96 engine has the more square intake were as the mv6 has the slightly longer manifold.

The Multi-ram, or 'Plenum' as it's mostly referred to on here, as shown below
